A Rome man remains jailed charged with murder after setting fire to the mobile home he lived in with his father and step-mother. Floyd County Police say that twenty-six-year-old Timothy Lary was angry that his father and stepmother wouldn’t move out of the trailer and had threatened to set fire to the mobile home while the two were at work. Neighbors say that they could hear the family arguing throughout the day on Saturday and then on Saturday night, Timothy Lary reportedly set fire to a mattress inside the mobile home. Floyd County police say that Lary wanted his father and stepmother to move out so he could sell the trailer, that police say belonged to Lary’s mother. Lary admitted to police that he had set fire to the mobile home. Police say that Lary’s stepmother may have gone back into the burning mobile home to try to save the family’s pets from the blaze and never came back out. Lary has been charged with arson and murder and the Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation with Floyd County Police.
