MR. BOBBY LAMAR CARNES, age 62, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Friday, August 17, 2012, evening at his residence. A Chattooga County, Georgia native He was born to the late Joseph Lonzo and Barbara Patterson Carnes on July 25, 1950. He was retired from Best Mfg. Company dipping plant and the City of Lyerly. Surviving are wife-Debbie Potter Carnes; daughters-Pamela Christine Archer of Trion and Kimberly & Eric Brown of Lyerly; sons-Joey L. & Amanda Carnes and Bobby Ray & Nikki Carnes all of Lyerly; sisters-Charlotte & Job Maxson of Coldwater, Mich., Sandra & Harold DeBerry of Summerville; brother-Calvin Carnes of Albany, Tx.; six Grandchildren; four Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews; special friend-Danny Chamlee; mother & father-in-law-Katheryn & Joe Potter. Mrs. Tina R. Tucker Obit (ER)

MRS. TINA R. TUCKER, age 40, of Oakhill Drive-Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in a Rome hospital. She was born on February 16, 1972 to Richard and Sammye Smallan Brock who survive. She was preceded in death by Grandparents Cecil Brock, H. M. Smallan and Louise Smallan. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Trion First Baptist Church, a clinical nurse and a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are husband-Rusty Tucker; daughter-Skylar Tucker; step son-Drew Tucker; parents-Richard and Sammye Brock; paternal grandmother-Kathryn Brock all of Trion. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Marsha Kessler Obit (M)

Mrs. Marsha Lin Kessler, age 50, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Kessler was born February 9, 1962 in Annapolis, Maryland, the daughter of the late John Glendon Cordle, Sr. and Irene Virginia Johnson Cordle. She was Employed at LaFayette Health Care. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Lamar Cordle.

Mrs. Kessler is survived by a son, Tony McAllister; daughters, Angela Summerlin, and husband, George Robert Summerlin, Jr. and Erica McAllister; brothers, John Cordle, Jr., Lester Cordle, Ronnie Cordle, and Don Cordle; grandchildren, Austin McAllister, Tyshaun Summerlin, Darren Summerlin, Karina Summerlin, Melanae McAllister, and Cierra Cherry; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Alan Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Kessler will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday, August 17, 2012.

Mr. Clifford Mountain Obit (M)

Mr. Clifford David Mountain, age 83, of Cloudland, GA died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Mountain was born December 19, 1928 in Whiteside, TN, the son of the late Ollie David Mountain and Mae Reno Goddard Blalock. He was retired from Roper Corporation. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Mountain.

Mr. Mountain is survived by a son, Phillip Mountain; daughters, Glenna Faye Ballinger and Jeannie Wilson; 6 Grandchildren; and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Ami Cemetery, with Rev. Jack Green officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 17, 1954, He was a son of the late John Thomas and Mary Annie Deckner Eskew. Mr. Eskew was a retired construction worker and was preceded in death by a granddaughter the late Rhiannon Lee Michelle Eskew and brothers the late John Thomas Eskew and the late Billy Eskew. Surviving are wife-Linda Caldwell Jones; sons-Greg Franklin (Adriane) Eskew and James Anthony (Katelin) Eskew all of Summerville; granddaughters-Linda Eskew, Julie Eskew, & Sylvia Anne Eskew ; grandsons-Matt Eskew, Brandon Eskew, Buck Presley Eskew, and Matthew Floyd; sisters-Cheryl Eskew and Sandra E. Anderson both of Welaka, FL., Mary Ruth Crowder of Oxford, GA.; brothers-Ralph Eskew and Raymond Eskew, and Larry Eskew all of Covington, GA; several Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Nellie Mae Godfrey, age 87, of Menlo, GA died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Godfrey was born July 10, 1925 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late John Alfred Wrape and Annie Lee Pettyjohn Wrape. She was a homemaker and a member of Menlo Church of Christ. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Willis Godfrey, Sr.; brothers, Joseph Earl Wrape and William Alfred Wrape.

Mrs. Godfrey is survived by a son, John Willis Godfrey, Jr.; sisters, Faye Thomison and Frances Parden; brother, Parks Louis Wrape; grandson, Bence Willis Godfrey; great grandchildren, Kayle Brook Godfrey and Drake Willis Godfrey.

Mrs. Erma Stricland Obit (M)

Mrs. Erma Norene Strickland, age 93, of Trion, GA died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Roman Court.

Mrs. Strickland was born July 31, 1919, in Henegar, AL, the daughter of the late Luther Millican and Frances Brown Millican. She was retired from Best Manufacturing. Other than her parents, Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Strickland; two brothers; and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Danny Quinton; grandchildren, Jamie Quinton and Jason Quinton; great-grand-children, Caleb Weissmann, Kamron Evans and Victoria Evans; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at West Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be Butch Camp, Darren Strickland, and Don Thompson.

Mrs. Strickland will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Monday.

Mr. James Samuel Alred Obit (M)

Mr. James Samuel Alred, age 87, of Summerville, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Alred was born Rome, Georgia on January 12, 1925, son of the late Arthur Lee Alred and Mary Lou Nelson Alred. He was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church, the Quarter Century Club at Riegel Textile Corporation. He later retired from Crystal Springs Printing in Chickamauga. In addition to his parents, Mr. Alred was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Margaret Alred; brothers and sisters, Gordon Alred, Shelby Alred, Dorothy Hughes, Arthur Alred, Jr., Frances Glenn, Margaret Warren, Richard Alred, and Mary Sue Vernon.

Mr. Alred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Mike Bowers; grandchildren, Shanna & Jason Dawson and Phillip and Cherhonda Bowers; great grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Dawson; brothers, Earl Alred and Eugene Alred; sister, Betty Jo Hendrix and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Alred will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson and Rev. Steve Alred officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville, Cemetery with Naval Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be David Alred, Phillip Bowers, Jason Dawson, Hugh Don Hughes, and Joseph Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pathway Sunday School Class of South Summerville Baptist Church and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Patty Lynn Nichols Potts Obit (M)

Mrs. Patty Lynn Nichols Potts, age 42, of Stone Mountain, GA, died Thursday, August 9, 2012, at her residence.

Mrs. Potts was born May 16, 1970 in Rome, GA, the daughter of Betty Jean Mann Nichols and the late Walter Lee Nichols. She was a member of the Pentecostal Worship Center and she worked as an LPN at Shepherd Hills Health Care. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Nichols Gardner.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Potts; sons, Cody Teague and Justin Rainville; step-children, Jonathan Potts, Ryan Potts, Heaven Potts, and Alisha Potts; mother, Betty Nichols; sister, Lisa Elliott; brother, Jeff Gardner and wife, Tabatha Gardner; nieces, Cassidy Gardner and Emarey Gardner; nephews, Zach Gardner, Staven Gardner, and Gunnar Gardner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Hutchins and Rev. Kevin Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery.
