Mrs. Mary Jane Studdard, age 72, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday January 16, 2016, in Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Studdard was born April 3, 1943, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late E.E. and Jessie May Winters.  She was retired from Mohawk Carpet and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Cecil R. Studdard, Jr., sisters, Evie Lee Holt, Mamie Carroll, and a brother, W.A. Winters. 

Survivors include her Husband, Cecil R. Studdard, Sons and Daughter-in-law, Johnny Edmondson, Stanley and Erica Edmondson, Daughters and Sons-n-law, Darlene and M.D. Hughes, Patricia and Dennis Bolton, Tammy and Buddy Davis, Kimmey and E.J. Jones, Brothers, Grady Winters, Charles Winters, Raymond and Faye Winters, Sisters, Sara Duckett, Hattie Dentmon, Marie Broyles, Grandchildren, Carrie Edmondson, Jessica Hughes, Haley Studdard, Stefan Edmondson, Miles Bolton, Bryson Edmondson, Karsen Edmondson, Amber Wright, Brandon Bolton, Tiffany Bolton, Brittany Bolton Great-Grandchildren, Trey Edmondson, Ethan Edmondson, Eil Edmondson, Aiden Lee, Hunner Hughes, Jacey Hughes, and Korbyn Studdard. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday January 18, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be John Martin, Ronnie Carroll, Brandon Bolton, Gary Broyles, Steve Broyles, and Gary Brown.

Mrs. Betty Jean Fowler obit (M)

Mrs. Betty Jean Fowler, age 89, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Friday, January 15, 2016, at her residence. 

Mrs. Fowler was born February 12, 1926, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Fred and Tierra Bynum Elrod.  She was a homemaker. 

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Fowler III and Ann Fowler; sisters, Antoinette Finister and Freddie White; granddaughters, Elizabeth Duncan and Leslie Carroll; and special friend, James Bolton. 

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Fowler will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 17, 2016, from the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Romaine officiating. 

Mrs. Fowler will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Sunday.

Mr. James Leon Jones, age 69, of Gaylesville, AL died Wednesday, January
13, 2016 at his residence.
 
Mr. Jones was born December 31, 1946 in Centre, AL, the son of the late
James Leon Jones and Rosa Lee Brewster Jones.  He was retired from
Mt. Vernon Mills.
 
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Tucker Jones; daughters and sons-in-law,
Darlene and Richard McCullough, Beverly and Wayne Trammell; son and
daughter-in-law, James Franklin and Jenny Jones; sister and brother-in-law,
Frances and Hugh Massengill; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert Lee and
Kathy Jones; grandchildren and spouses, Eric Lee and Sylvia McCullough,
Lola Renae and Jeremy Potts. Tiffany and Steven Ryan, Ashly & Shane Reynolds,
Hillary Atchley; and 7 Great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. EST on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Horace Humphreys officiating.  Burial
will follow in Faith Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard McCullough, Jeremy
Potts, Shane Reynolds, Steven Ryan, Jeffrey Jones, and Junior Tucker.  Honorary
pallbearers are Staff and Employees of Summerville Dialysis Center.

MR. ROBERT JOHN “ROB” WALKER, SR. – Age 75, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah and Elizabeth Almons Walker, Sr., two sisters, Rosa Lee Mack and Alice Lee Hudgins, and one brother, Isaiah “J.C.” Walker, Jr.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Walker, Ricky (Natasha) Walker, Raquel (Jason) Pingeton, Kimberly (Rickey) Jelks, and Robert (Melissa) Walker, Jr.; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters, Betty Whatley, Louise Hamonds, and Sara Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Nicholas Byron Simpson, age 36, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Friday, January 8, 2016.

Mr. Simpson was born November 23, 1979, in Rome, GA, son of Steven Byron and Beverly Ilene Henderson Simpson.  He was employed as a landscaper at Curly's Cove.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his parents, Steven and Beverly Simpson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Jessica Simpson; grandparents, Betty Cooper, Sidney and Linda Henderson, Wayne and Christine Simpson; nieces and nephews, Aidan Simpson, Lexi Simpson, and Ansleigh Simpson..

Funeral services for Mr. Simpson will be held at 1:00 P.M. Ms. Joanne Christian, age 69, of Menlo, GA died Tuesday, January 12, 2016
at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
 
Ms. Christian was born August 29, 1946 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of the late
John William Smith, SR and Ora Josephine Malone Smith.  She was retired from
the United States Postal Service, where she was post master in Menlo, GA.
 
Ms. Christian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Karri Christian;
sister, Janet Black; brother, John Smith, JR; and grandchildren, Breanna Roden and
Brileigh Roden.
 
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p. m. on Friday, January 15, 2015

will follow in Anderson Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Janice Ruth Borges Obit (ER)

Mrs. Janice Ruth Borges age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, in a Rome hospital.  A native of Chattooga County, She was born on December 20, 1945, to the late John Fred and Georgia Lee Jones Dye.  Mrs. Borges was a Nursing Assistant for Home Nurse and a member of the Harrell Street Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Jose Borges; daughter, Summer Zuniga Cook of Summerville; son, Michael Zeek Zuniga of Summerville; sisters, Nellie Rogers of Resaca, Georgia and Susan Betts of Lavonia, Georgia; 5 grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 1 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Bro. Mr. Dexter Jordan Reynolds Obit (M)

Mr. Dexter Jordan Reynolds, age 27, of Menlo, GA, died Sunday, January 10, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Reynolds was born November 27, 1988, in Rome, GA, son of Larry Lee Reynolds and Tina Faye Collette.  He was a sports star with the Trion Basketball, Football, and Baseball Teams.  He was also a member of the 2006 – 2007 All State Basketball Team and was a 2009 World Softball Champion.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude "Bud" Reynolds, great-grandparents, Fay Owens and Joe Collette, Jr.; and an uncle, Maurice Collette.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his father and step-mother, Larry and Sally Reynolds; mother and step-father, Tina and Ben Stanfield; brothers, Ty Reynolds and Levi Stanfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tabitha and Thomas Reid, Bailey Entrekin, Autumn and Evan Atkison; grandparents, Denny and Brenda Kell, John Collette, Sr., Wayne and Vicki Boyd; great-grandparents, Cloe Owens, Ruth Collette, and Jessie Mae Tucker.

Mrs. Doris Jean Lowry Henderson, age 89, of Trion, GA, died Friday, January 8, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Henderson was born September 4, 1926, in Lyerly, GA, daughter of the late William Russell and Myrtis Josie Adams Lowry.  She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church.  She was currently a homemaker, and previously, was a glove mill girl, working at the Trion Glove Mill, Best Manufacturing, and the Lyerly Glove Mill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Lowry and Herman Lowry; sisters, Lillie Mae "Jackie" Lowry Mills, Mary Jo Lowry Treadaway, and Betty Ann Lowry Tucker; a granddaughter, Marcy Ann Henderson; grandsons, Clinton Lee Henderson and Scott Alan Henderson.

Mrs. Henderson is survived by her husband, William Eugene Henderson; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Larry and Joyce Henderson, William Lee and Linda Henderson; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Jean and Waymond "Babe" Tudor, Karen Diane and Jack Sparks; a sister, Nancy Carol Lowry; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Cassie Fulmer, Cheyenne Hardin, and Connie Gordon.

Mrs. Edwards was born February 7, 1939, in LaFayette, GA, daughter of the late Rubin and Rebecca Witt Sosebee.  She was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Teresa Mitchell and Debbie Alexander; brothers, Carl Sosebee, Lonnie Sosebee, and Alfred Sosebee; sisters, Ann Williams, Fannie Brown, Mary Ruth Harris, Nell Durham, and Ruby Black; and grandsons, Brad Martin and Braden Martin.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, Charles Edwards; son, Ray Mitchell; daughters, Becky Martin, Mary Ann White; brother, Ross "Bill" Sosebee; sisters, Margaret Westbrook, Betty Wilson; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
