Mrs. Barbara Jean Rosson Obit (M)

Mrs. Barbara Jean Rosson, age 72, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, September 11, 2015, at Floyd Medical Center. 

Mrs. Rosson was born December 9, 1942, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Ennis Harrold and Cecil Lorene Nelson DeBerry.  She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. 

Mrs. Rosson is survived by her husband, Earnest "Buddy" Rosson; a son, Kenneth B. Rosson; a daughter, Karen M. McDaniel; brothers, Harold DeBerry, Bill DeBerry, and Jerry DeBerry; sisters, Linda Shaver and Debra England; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sanford DeBerry and Rev. Wayne Hindman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jeff Shaver, Lamar DeBerry, Joseph DeBerry, Billy Don DeBerry, Greg Shaver, and Tim DeBerry.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Mr. Donald Wayne Smith obit (M)

Mr. Donald Wayne Smith, age 68, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, September 7, 2015. 

Mr. Smith was born May 27, 1947, in Trion, GA, son of the late Jesse Edward and Lucille Teems Smith.  He was a member of the New Faith Tabernacle and was employed with Mohawk.  He was also an avid carpenter and gardener. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee Hall Smith; sons, Eddie Smith, Bubba Smith, and Chris Collins; daughters, Litha Darlene Smith and Sharon Collins; brothers, Dan Smith, Arnold Smith, and Frank Reed; sisters, Charlotte Smith and Jesse Willingham; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held at 3:30 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Bennett and Rev. Max Reed officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jesse Chisolm, Eddie Smith, Bubba Smith, Chris Collins, Billy Joe Durham, Isaiah Smith, Steve Craig, and Stephen Hamby.  Honorary pallbearers will be all personal friends.

Mr. Glenn Roger Reed, Jr. age 48, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, September 5, 2015, in Davisboro, GA.
 
Mr. Reed was born September 22, 1966 in Summerville, GA, son of Lois Edgeworth Reed and the late Glenn Roger Reed, Sr.  He had worked as a truck driver with Broome and Son Ice Company.
 
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Sharon Reed; a son, Scott Collins; mother, Lois Reed; sisters, Jennie Tidmore and Tammy Baughn; grandchildren, Emma Collins and Ella Collins.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Reed will be held at 4:30 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Edgeworth officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Eric Burke, Ron Langford, Larry Edgeworth, J. J. Mrs. Paula Jean Marks, age 72, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Marks was born May 7, 1943, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Paul A. McWhorter and Dorothy Mann Campbell.  She was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church.  She had worked at Mount Vernon Mills where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Dorothy and Walter Campbell; father and step-mother, Paul and Nellie McWhorter; sister, Sarah Eller; brother, Walter Campbell, Jr.; and a grandson, Cory Thompson.
 
Mrs. Marks is survived by her husband, Houston Marks; sons, Charles McGuire and Jimmy L. Hardin; a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Neil Shropshire; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathy McWhorter; sisters, Jackie Campbell and Eydie Campbell Rowland; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Marks will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mrs. Tracy Ivey Obit (M)

Mrs. Tracy Ivey, age 47, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, formerly of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Ivey was born May 23, 1968, in Rome, GA, daughter of Patricia Ann Ward Sweatman and the late James Nixon "Nick" Sweatman.  She was a 1986 graduate of Chattooga High School and received her nursing degree from Floyd College in 1992.  She has worked with Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center for over 20 years.  For the last few years, she has worked in the home health field.  She was a very devoted nurse and friend to all those she came into contact with.  She was presently attending and active with Heritage Point Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clayton and Frances Ward and Ed and Annie Ruth Sweatman.
 
Mrs. Ivey is survived by her husband, Darrell Ivey; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Ariel Crider; daughter, Jasmine Crider; mother, Pat Sweatman; sisters and brother-in-law, Cynthia Diane "DeeDee" Shedd, Michelle and Brit Copeland; grandsons, Brody Lane Crider, Avery Nixon Crider; nieces and nephews, Eston and Tiara Burdick, Devin and Kadi Burdick, Tabi Burdick, Braden Shedd, Nick and Noah Copeland; great-nieces, Lana Burdick, Kali Burdick.  Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Ivey will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2015, from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor Neal Brown and Pastor Larry Scoggins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fisher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Justin Fletcher, Blake Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher, Nick Copeland, Noah Copeland, and Mason Shedd, and are asked to meet at the church at 1:30 P.M.  Friday.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eston Burdick, Devin Burdick, Tabi Burdick, and Braden Shedd.

Mrs. Catherine Leola “Granny Cat” Chamlee Obit (C)

Mrs. Catherine Leola “Granny Cat” Chamlee, age 98 of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Chamlee was born in Guntersville, AL on June 25, 1917, daughter of the late Grover C. Wright and Minnie Clark Wright.  She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and prior to retirement, was employed as an inspector with the Georgia Glove Mill.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chamlee was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Edison Chamlee; a son, William Larry Chamlee; a sister, Ruth Martin; and brothers, Fred Wright and Paul Wright.

Mrs. Chamlee is survived by a daughter, Jeaninne Laws; sons, Kenny Chamlee, Eddie Chamlee, Danny Chamlee, Steve Chamlee and Paul Chamlee; sisters, Elsie Cooper and Jane Bishop; brothers, Carmen Wright, Alvis Wright and Jimmy Wright; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Chamlee will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. John Eldridge and Rev. Jason Cowart officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. James Randall (Randy) Williams, age 57, of Trion, GA, passed away Sunday September 6, 2015 at his residence.  Mr. Williams was born July 26, 1958, in Trion, GA, the son of Gordon Francis and Margaret Ann Lemmings Williams.  He was employed with Shaw Ind. and a member of the Summerville Pentecostal  Worship Center.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda  Gill Williams, children, Maranda Williams, Dana Lindsey, Carrie Lively, brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry & Paula Williams, David & Nancy Williams, 6 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Sept 9, 2015 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Woods and Rev. MRS. BETTY MCCOLLUM HOWARD OBIT (ER)

MRS. BETTY MCCOLLUM HOWARD, age 87, of Thomas Road, Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, September 4, 2015.  Native to Chattooga County, She was a daughter of the late Cleve and Lena Norton McCollum, on May 27, 1928.  She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, retired from the Montgomery Knitting Mill and Mohawk creeling department.  Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, the late Horace E. Howard, and a son, the late Dennis S. Howard.

Surviving are children, Diane & Riley Flowers of Macon, Donna & Howard Slayton of Trion, and David & Kathy Howard of LaFayette; 10 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 7th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Ridgeway Baptist Church with Rev. MR. MELVIN M. BURKE (ER)

MR. MELVIN M. BURKE, age 81, of Mitchell Circle, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 4, 2015, at his residence.  A native of Trion, Georgia He was born to the late Fred S. and Evie Irene Jones Burke on April 16, 1934.  Mr. Burke was a member and Deacon of Harrell Street Church of God and a retired owner/operator Truck driver.  He was preceded in death by a son the late Rex Burke; sisters, Shelby Gentry, Phyllis Lambert; brothers, John L. Burke, Marvin Burke.

        Surviving are wife, Ester Ruth Burke; daughters, Marshell Roberts, Orlando Millican, Phyllis Bell, Tina Treadaway, Kimberly Nichols; sons, Frederick Burke and Eddie Burke; sister, Mary Morris; brothers George Burke and Ed Burke; 23 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

        Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 6th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Harrell Street Church of God with Pastor Kenny Payne and Rev. Rockland Hughes officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Grandsons.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Parker Blake Joseph, age 12 weeks, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. 

He was born June 10, 2015, in Fort Payne, AL, son of Clay Michael Joseph and Cortney LeAnne Parris Joseph.  He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Bobby Joseph and Maxine Stewart. 

Parker is survived by his parents, Clay and Cortney Joseph; his sister, Aubree Colbert; grandparents, Bobbie and Travis Mackey, Clay and Stephanie Joseph; great-grandparents, Jeannie and Joe Winters, Evie and Donnie Mackey, and Frank and Leona Sawicki, Sara Joseph; aunt, Ashley Parris; uncles, Austin Parris, Darrell Albritton.
