Mr. Joseph Andrew “Joey” Chandler Obit (C)

Mr. Joseph Andrew “Joey” Chandler, age 35, of the Pennville Community, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Chandler was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina on June 7, 1980, son of Bobby Gene Chandler and Denise Rogers Sanders.  He was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church, was an avid fisherman, and was employed with the Carpenter’s Union as an OSHA Instructor and Safety Inspector.  Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Mary Rogers, Dick and Betty Robbins, and an uncle, Don Rogers.

Mr. Chandler is survived by his mother and step-father, Denise and Alan Sanders; father and step-mother, Bobby and Jody Chandler; daughters, Taylor Chandler and Bailey Chandler; a step-daughter, Sarah Wingo; brothers, David Chandler and Chris Chandler; step-sister, Courtney Sanders Ross; grandparents, Bob and Delores Chandler; special nieces and nephews, Gretchen Chandler, Sabrina Chandler, Kimberly Chandler, Roger Chandler, Alexis Chandler, Jake McDonald, Ryan Hunter and Tyler Hunter, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Chandler will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rex Jones, David Swift, Neil Shropshire, Chris Chandler, Zack Martin and Kevin Ross.  Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Chandler.

Mr. Chandler will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home, where the family will  receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Deborah Diana Nichols Obit (M)

Mrs. Deborah Diana Nichols, age 48, of Mentone, AL died Thursday, July 30

2015 in Riverview Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Nichols was born February 28, 1967 in Gadsden, AL, the daughter of

the late Charles Kitchens and Sally Gibbs Kitchens.  She was a homemaker and

a member of  Chesterfield Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include her husband, Rod Nichols; sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph

Howell, Jamie and Jackie Haney; daughters and son-in-law, Kayla Nichols,

Krysta and Travis Stancil; brother, Jamie Kitchens; sisters, Irene Leath and Tracy

Kitchens; grandchildren, Dustin, Josiah, Sophia, Jonah, Chevy, and Cash.

 

Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p. m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at

Mason funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.  The family will receive

friends from 4:00 until 5:00 p. m. on Saturday, at other hours the family will be at the residence of Bobby and Pam Cavin, at 1960 County Road 66, Mentone, AL.

Mr. William Greene “Bill” Ramey Obit (M)

  Mr. William Greene "Bill" Ramey, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at his residence.

 

Mr. Ramey was born June 1, 1934, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Robert Earl and Ruth Wallin Ramey.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was a former member of the Four Mile Baptist Church.  He was retired from the Chattooga County Public Works as well as the Floyd County Public Works.  Mr. Ramey was a retired Tech Sergeant with the United States Air Force where he served from 1953 until 1974.  He was a veteran of both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict.  He was shot down in the Azores in South America and was the only survivor.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by his brothers, Willard Ramey and J. L. Ramey; sisters, Juanita Dover and Bonnie Ramey; and a grandson, Robby Ramey, Jr.

 

Mr. Ramey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Teems Ramey; son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Yolanda Ramey; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Argo, Donna and Steve Teems, and Shirley and Glenn Watwood, Sr.; a brother, Tommy Ramey; a sister, Lucille Fuller; grandchildren, Glenn "Bubba" Watwood, Jr., Jessica Purdy, Kristen Ramey, Willy Culberson, Ashley Culberson, and Don Argo; great-grandchildren, Darren, Khloe, Aria, Georgia, Cameron, Gabriel, Nathan, Jada, Madison, and Montana.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Ramey will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. Ray Teems officiating.  Interment will follow in the Silver Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Glenn "Bubba" Watwood, Jr., Steve Teems, Willy Culberson, Ashley Culberson, Don Argo, Ellis Linn, Bob Burdick, and Leo Black.  Honorary pallbearers will be Damon Purdy, Malcolm Dodd, and Lebron Ramey

Mr. Emmett James Parker Obit (ER)

MR. EMMETT  JAMES  PARKER, age 81, of Bellah Avenue, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at his residence.  A native Chattooga Countian, Mr. Parker was born to the late Jessie Lee and Florence Bowling Parker, on October 2, 1933.  He was Church of God by Faith, a Veteran of Korea, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps, and was retired from Mohawk Industries.  Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a sister, the late Emily Parker, and brother, the late Charles Parker.
            Surviving are His wife of 35 years, Dicey Parker; daughters, Shelia (Doyle) King, Mrs. Donna Blackmon, Ms. Diane Reese, and Mrs. Janie Lashley all of Summerville; seven Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren also survive.
            Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Hutchins and Rev. Mrs. Willie Ruth Martin Hoskins Obit (Willis)

MRS. WILLIE RUTH MARTIN HOSKINS- Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.  She was the widow of the late Dewey Henry Hoskins and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She retired from the Chattooga County School System.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Conley C. and Connie Mae Perry Martin, brother, Deed Martin, and sister, Sarah Williams.

Survivors are her two daughters, Alice (Larry) Lee, Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Karen Hoskins of West Palm Beach, Florida; son, DeWayne (Bobbet) Hoskins of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren, Latasha Lee, Andre Black, Joshua Cosby, Adrianne Hoskins, Zoe Hoskins; three sisters, Letty S. Wiggins, Mae Lackey of Lyerly, Georgia, Elnora Martin of Ohio; brothers, Conley (Mary) Martin, Jr., John L. Martin, Sr., William Calvin Martin, of Summerville, Georgia, and Otis (Emma) Martin of Lyerly; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at North Summerville Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Kevin Roach and other ministers officiating.  Her remains will lie in at the church one hour before the service.  Interment at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 12:30 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund in memory of Mrs. Willie Ruth Martin Hoskins at the B.B.&T. Bank of Summerville, GA. 

Mrs. Julia Virginia Gentry Howell Obit (M)

Mrs. Julia Virginia Gentry Howell,  age 88, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday July 25, 2015, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

 

Mrs. Howell was born March 2, 1927, in Chattooga County GA, the daughter of the late Virgil and Ida Viola “Daisy” Walker Gentry.  She was a retired textile worker, a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and preceded in death by her husband, Hobert (Red)  Howell, daughter, Shirley Cloud,  grandson, Jesse James Hathorn.

 Survivors include her childen, Judy Hathorn, Joyce Goodson, Betty Suits,  sisters, Doris Bryan, Jane Reed, Edna Williams, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday 3:00 p.m. July 27, 2015 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson, and Rev. Gary Howell officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Billy Bennett, W.J. Keith, Daniel Gentry, Jeff Edge, Zachery Doll, Carl Gentry.

Mrs.Fannie Sue (Phyllis) Padgett

 MRS.FANNIE SUE (Phyllis) PADGETT age 64 of Rossville, Georgia, formerly of Chattooga County, passed away Wednesday evening, July 22, 2015. Mrs. Padgett was born January 20, 1951, to the late Houston Foy and Bessie Carolyn Stansell Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Jimmie Ruth Sweat, Marilyn Jean Palmer, Bobby Palmer, and Kimberly Dawn Blackmon.

Survivors include her husband Frank Padgett and son Barry Padgett both of Rossville; sisters: Kathy Brown of Trion, Becky Schilling, Linda Orr, and Martha Reynolds all of Summerville, Marsha Upton and Pat Elsberry both of Lyerly; brothers: Michael Palmer of Summerville and La Don Palmer of Dalton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Mr. John D. Sanders, age 47, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Sanders was born February 21, 1968, in Dalton, GA, son of the late John Henderson Sanders and Lou Senda Eller Sanders.  He was employed with Mohawk. 
Mr. Sanders is survived by his sisters, Ivy Trammell, Jane Carlton, and Jo Ann Sanders; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Flora Willis Ford Cook, age 79, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at her residence.

 

Mrs. Cook was born July 26, 1935, in Teloga, GA, daughter of the late Cicero J. and Lula Pettyjohn Ford.  She was a homemaker and was Church of Christ by faith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Cook.

 

Mrs. Cook is survived by her son, Larry "Cowboy" Cook; daughters, Robin Cook Eberhart and Beverly Cook Johnson; a brother, Frank Ford; grandsons, Terry Cook, Jason Hunt, Dale Cook, and Justin Cook; step-grandson, Austin Eberhart; great-granddaughters, Shelby Cook and Elizabeth Cook; and a special friend, Jerry Hogg.

 

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, July 23, 2015, from the Macedonia Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.

MR. AL RAY MCCUTCHINS – Age 56, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his residence. He was the son of the late George and Eula Mae London McCutchins and was preceded in death by his nephews Isiah McCutchins and Trevor Montgomery. He attended Trion High School and was employed as a cook at Longhorn Restaurant and Dalton Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his son, Quinncy McCutchins; granddaughter, Quinniesha McCutchins; sisters, Ann Montgomery, Mona Lisa (Mike McGhee) McCutchins, Vivian Wells, Anita McCutchins, and Anna (Johnny Garrett) McCutchins; brothers, Rogers (Apostle Dr. Jennifer) London, and Tracey (Sandy) McCutchins; brother-in-law, Ronald Montgomery; aunt, Aliena McCutchins; and uncle, Robert Leggings; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
