Mrs. Mary Ann Tudor, age 75, of Rome, GA (formerly of Summerville, GA) died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Tudor was born July 21, 1937 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Clarence Eugene Pierce and Robbie Mae Carney Pierce. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tudor was a member of Fishers Chapel Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband to whom she was married in 1960 until his death in 2007, George Ed Tudor; and a son, Michael Tudor.

Survivors include sons, Greg Andrews, and Roland “Lynn” Tudor; sister, Wylene Gillespie; brothers, Ernie and wife, Glenda Pierce, Harold and wife, Betty Pierce; grandchild, Kim Holmes, and husband, Will Holmes; great grandchildren, Edward Tudor, Matthew Shephard, Allison Holmes, and Andrew Holmes.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Frank Bramlett and Rev. Ray Teems will officiate.

Mrs. Tudor will be in state and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. until the service hour at Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Thursday.

Mrs. Sara Allene Cochran, age 79, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cochran was born October 24, 1933 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late Monty James Millican and Mary Janet Hall Millican. She was retired from the Chattooga School System. Mrs. Cochran was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. She also attended the Senior Citizen Center. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Emory Cochran; and a sister, Bonnie Hall.

Mrs. Cochran is survived by her husband, Grady Cochran, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Taft and Carrie Cochran, Clarksville, and Abby & Randy Parker, LaFayette, GA; and 2 Great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Palmer and Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lynn Hall, Sam Hall, Justin Broyles, LeRoy LuAllen, Jeff Martin, Mike Martin, and Roy Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be all member of the Menlo High School Class of 1950; all employees of the Nutrition Center; the Staff of Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Lisa Tallent, and Pat Noles.

Mr. Edgar Clinton Belcher, age 71, of LaFayette, GA died Friday, May 10, 2013 in Chattanooga, TN.

Mr. Belcher was born August 11, 1941 in Chattanooga, TN, son of the late Zelma and Clinton Belcher. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, was retired as a supervisor with Georigia Correctional Industry, and was also a veteran of the National Guard.

Mr. Belcher is survived by his wife, Sara Belcher; a son, Jamie (Tamula) Colbert of LaFayette, GA; daughters, Lisa (Andy) Johnson of Tunnel Hill, GA, Sonya Mann of LaFayette, GA; a brother, Walter Belcher of Loganville, GA; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Belcher will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Avans and his son, Rev. Jamie Colbert officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, Michael Young, Noah Mann, Easton Colbert, and Daniel Cordell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Doris Espy, age 90, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at

her home.

Mrs. Espy was born April 23, 1923 in Trion, GA the daughter of the late Wheeler

Loggins and Addie Williams Loggins.  She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Mrs. Espy was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church. Other than her

parents,  she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Maxwell; second

husband, Thomas Judson Espy, JR; and a brother, Leonard Loggins.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Maxwell King and husband, Jeff King and

Terri Maxwell Eleam and husband, Butch Eleam; brother, Joseph E. Loggins;

grandchildren, Libby Worthington and husband, Mikey Worthington, Christopher King

and wife,  K. C. King, Joseph Eleam, Katie Eleam, Daniel Eleam, and Connor Eleam;

and one great grandchild, Will Worthington.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m.  Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Mason Funeral

Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Mason officiating with private interment in West Hill

Mr. Calvin McArthur, age 77, of Reed Street, Trion, Georgia passed away

Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence. Mr. McArthur was born in 

Berryton, Georgia on September 23, 1935, a son of the late John Henry 

and Margaret McArthur Rackley. He was retired from the maintenance 

department of Chattooga Hospital and Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center,

had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a 

member of American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #6688. Mr. McArthur

was preceded in death by his wife, the late Helen Wynell Nix McArhur and

brothers J.L. Rackley and Kenneth Rackley.

Surviving are daughters, Melanie (Gary) Woods and Darlene (Bryan) Hunter,

all of Trion; grandchildren, Jason (Stacie) McArthur, Bryan (Kaytia) McWhorter,

Derek (Catherine) Hunter, Haley Woods and Jimbo Woods; great grandchildren,

Olivia and Trevor McArthur, Sydnie Hoglund, Gage and Gunnar McWhorter;

Katherine Elizabeth Morrison Bryant was called from her home of this earthly life to the realms of glory with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Mrs. Bryant had lived for more than 80 years in the Lyerly Community, having moved here from her birth place in Cherokee County, AL. The fourth of five children, of Arthur Wesley and Ruby Chitwood Morrison, she was born on March 11.1921. She was preceded in death by her spouse, John Terrell Bryant, to whom she was married for more than 53 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Denson Morrison and Lena Mae Morrison; and a brother, SFC Harold Morrison, SR, US Army retired.

Mrs. Bryant, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, leaves her legacy to be continued by daughters, Marilyn Jean Bryant, Smyrna, GA, and Terri Joan and son-in-law, Andy Pilgrim, Clarksville, GA; four grandchildren, Lisa Allen, Summerville, GA Allison Carr, Coraville, IA, Lauren and Barry Sullivan, Franklin, TN, and Leigh Ann Evans, Nashville, TN; four great grandchildren, Marchonda Allen and Maryah Mosteller, Jacksonville, FL, Thomas and Kristen Carr, Coraville, IA; a special great great nephew and a great great niece, Lee and Beth Lynn, who loved their “Aunt Katy” dearly. She is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Bryant was a very talented and versatile person from her early childhood; always loving to work in her flower and vegetable gardens. As a young girl on the farm, she was known as dad’s #1 field hand, being able to stand the tallest in laborers among any hired hands around. From early on, she was a talented seamstress, a well known connoisseur of the culinary arts, highly skilled in the area of decorative arts. She was a talented athlete and an academic scholar. She was named salutatorian of her Lyerly High Graduation class of 1938. She was active in community, civic, and social organizations and was a very active member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church. A special recognition service was held at Lyerly First Baptist Church on her birthday, 2013, recognizing her for holding church membership the longest, and for being the oldest living member of the church.

Visitation will be at Mason Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 2:00 p. m. until 3:30 p. m. Funeral services will follow at Lyerly First Baptist Church at 4:00 p. m. with Revs. J B Cantrell, James Baird, and Barry Peppers officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Lyerly Cemetery. At other hours the family will be at the home in Lyerly. Active pallbearers will be Bill Bentley, Hulett Brooks, Pete Morrison, Tyler Pledger, Glen Martin, Wayne “Pete” Denson, Roger Bryant, Eddie Shireman, and Tommy Alexander. Dorothy “Jean” Eugenia Love Berry, 79, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Friday May 3, 2013 at her residence. A native of Lyerly, Georgia, she has lived in the Ringgold area for the past 62 years. Dorothy was a former employee of Wal-mart where she worked for 10 years and previously retired from Dupont and was a member of Berryton Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack T. Berry; parents, Marvin and Jewell Love; daughter, Janice Karen Berry and son-in-law, Allen Jones. She is survived by her four daughters, Jackie (Bobby) Mathis of Ringgold, GA., Janet Berry Jones of Rossville, GA., Donna (Terry) Edwards of Adairsville, GA., and Kathy (Randy) Dodson of Flovilla, GA., seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday May 5, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Ben Brychta officiating. Interment will follow at Lyerly Cemetery. Mrs. Rhody Beatrice “Nancy” Kennemer, age 84, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Kennemer was born in Trion, Georgia on February 26, 1929, daughter of the late Arthur Harris and Lucinda Powell Harris. She was of the Baptist Faith, and prior to retirement, was employed as a housekeeper with the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Kennemer was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Kennemer is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Annette Marks, Celestine Jones, Curt Wooten, Kenneth Wooten and Pat Wooten.

Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Kennemer will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Pennville Cemetery with Minister Jesse Bankston and Brother John Lewis officiating.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers and the staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will be honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Kennemer will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
