Mr. Edward Monroe Lively Obit (M)

Mr. Edward Monroe Lively, age 62, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday November 15, 2012, at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lively was born June 20, 1950, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Howard and Evie Lee Robins Lively.  He was a house painter and was preceded in death by a son, Jason Lively, brother, Steve Lively, and a sister, Yvonne Lively.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lively, daughters, Mendy Edgeworth, and Teresa Smallwood; stepchildren, Janice Hankins, Rodney Lewis, and Kathy Ward, sister, Nancy Chambers, 10 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Mason Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. David Pettyjohn officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Fulmer, Charlie “Jabo” Hawkins, Tracy Shaw, Steve Drigger, Doug Jones and Wayne Pace.  Honorary Pallbearers will be David Henderson, Pete Rounsaville, Stan Burrage, Jason Jackson, Tony Prince and Jimmy Lewis.

Mr. Lively will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Boyd Obit (M)

Mr. Jerry Wayne Boyd, JR, age 44, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from injuries received in a log truck accident.
 
Mr. Boyd was born July 8, 1968 in Trion, GA, the son of Jerry Wayne Boyd, SR
and Shirley Deloris Long Boyd.  Mr. Boyd was employed with Dalrymple
Trucking.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was an avid Nascar fan and
he loved the Georgia Bulldogs.  He loved driving a log truck with his loyal
dog, C B.  His favorite pass time was spending time with his two sons and his
“Princess” of a granddaughter, Jayla Elizabeth Boyd.
 
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Tammie Boyd; sons, Jamie Wayne Boyd and
Zachery Thomas Boyd; granddaughter, Jayla Elizabeth Boyd; parents, Jerry
Boyd, SR and Shirley Deloris Boyd; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda Dalrymple and Michael Bumbalough; brothers and sisters-in-law, R. C. and Jennifer Boyd, Stacy and Holly Boyd, Randy and Tracy Dalrymple, Andy and Kerrie Dalrymple;
father and mother-in-law, Randy and Becky Dalrymple; special uncle,

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates, Rev. Michah Gillespie,
and Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory
Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Stacy Boyd, Ronnie Boyd, Tony Barnes, Stanley Shafer, Jessie Ingram, and Randy Dalrymple, JR.  Honorary pallbearers
will be all his Trucking Buddies.

Mrs. Mary Frances Tate Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Frances Tate, age 88, of Lafayette, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Shepherd Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Tate was born in Chattanooga, TN on November 11, 1923, daughter of the late Thomas Henry Parham and Edna Riley Parham. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by brothers, Martin Parham and Riley Parham of Summerville, GA; and by sisters, Essie Morgan of Tulsa, OK and Minnie Donald of Sand Springs, OK.

Mrs. Tate is survived by her sons, Johnny M. Tate, Bruce C. Tate and Steve P. Tate; daughter, Carol Tate Short; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Tate will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating. Private interment services will be held at a later date.

The family and friends of Mrs. Tate will gather at the Mason Funeral Home from 10:30 A.M. Saturday until the service hour.

Mr. Jack T. Berry Obit (Wilson)

Jack T. Berry, 81, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Monday November 12, 2012. A resident of the Ringgold area for the past 62 years, he was formerly of Lyerly, Georgia. Jack was a former employee of Dupont where he worked for 33 years, a Veteran of the National Guard, of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Lyerly High School. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW and American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Berry; son-in-law, Allen Jones; parents, Bob and Rachel Chapman Berry; brothers, Donald, Carlton “Curly” and R.H. Berry and sisters, Barbara Berry Salard and Mary Beth Dutto. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Love Berry of Ringgold, GA., four daughters, Jackie (Bobby) Mathis of Ringgold, GA., Janet Berry Jones, of Rossville, GA., Donna (Terry) Edwards of Adairsville, GA and Kathy (Randy) Dodson of Flovilla, GA., sister, Hilda Jean Davis of Summerville, GA., seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren several nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday November 15, 2012 at the funeral home with Chaplain Ben Brychta officiating. Interment will follow at Lyerly Cemetery in Lyerly, Georgia. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.

Mrs. Wilma Nix Toles Obit (ER)

MRS. WILMA NIX TOLES, age 89, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, afternoon in the local nursing home. A daughter of the late James William (Will) and Eula Williams Nix, she was born on March 9, 1923 in Chattooga County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Charles Fletcher Toles, Sr. to whom she was married September 20, 1947 also preceded by two sisters and Six brothers.

Mrs. Toles was retired from the sewing department of Best Manufacturing, Menlo, and a member of Best’s Silver Club. Mrs. Toles was a faithful, and the last surviving charter member of West Berryton Faith Temple. Surviving are son & daughter-in-law Charles, Jr. and Jo Ann Toles of Menlo; Grandchildren-Clark & Melissa Miller; Bradley & Julie Wolfrum, Heather McClung, Farrah McClung, Lindsay Patty, & Jimmy Patty; eight Great Grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Estelle and Lamar Toles and Iris Toles; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14th, at 4 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Denny Smith officiating, interment in Alpine Cemetery. Active Pallbearers- Nephews; Honorary pallbearers the Adult Sunday School Class of West Berryton Faith Temple. Mrs. Margie Ergle Obit (M)

Mrs. Margie Ergle, age 91, of Marietta, GA died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Ergle was born September 19, 1921 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Charles Young and Leah Leathers Young. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Herman Ergle.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Ann Ergle; brother, Joseph Young; granddaughters, Jenifer Toller and Stacey Hodges; great-grandchildren, Justin Toller, Jessica Toller, Christopher McHugh, Andrew McHugh, and Ashlyn Hodges; great great grandchild, Molly McHugh; niece, Edith Walker; nephew, Jerry Ellis.

Graveside and interment services will be held 3:00 p. m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park, GA .

Mrs. Ergle will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday.

Mr. Ronnie Gwin Obit (M)

 

Mr. Ronnie Gwin, Sr. age 54, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Erlanger Medical Center.

 Mr. Gwin was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on February 6, 1958, son of the late Henry Emmett Storey and Annette Roberson Gwin.  He was an avid Alabama Football Fan, loved to pick and play his guitar and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Gwin was employed as a truck driver with Weaver’s Farms of Delano, TN and was of the Church of God Eternal Faith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Gwin.

 Mr. Gwin is survived by his wife, Janice Gwin; sons, Ronald Wayne Gwin, Jr and his wife, Rebecca, and Brandon Gwin; brothers, Hank Storey, Tim Storey and Tommy Storey; sisters, Tammy Knight, Lisa Hancock, and Lynn Bryant; step-parents, J.W. Gwin and Dorothy Storey; grandchildren, Memery Gwin, Alex Mears, Rebecca Mears, Steven Mears and Joshua Mears; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charles and Debbie Mitchell, Teresa and Steve Lee; Junior and Donna Tucker, Gary and Peggy Dotson, Billy and Linda Quillen, Kenny and Nancy Edgeman and Maggie and Steven Anderson; and a number of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

 Funeral Services for Mr. Gwin will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Garrett Cemetery.

Mr. Gary Richard Smith (FT)

Gary Richard Smith, age 65, of Griffith Drive, Liberty, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, November 8th, 2012 at his residence in Liberty.

 

Gary was born in LaFayette, Georgia on October 26th, 1947 the son of Opal Pickle Smith and the late John Wesley Smith. Gary was a 1966 graduate of Chattooga County High School in Summerville, GA. Gary was an Agency Manager for Modern Woodmen of America for many years and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty, SC. During his retirement he enjoyed collecting oil lamps. He was a member of Gideon’s International.

 

Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn Carter Smith; a daughter, Paige Pittard and her husband, Jason of Liberty SC; his mother, Opal Pickle Smith of Armuchee, GA.; a sister, Amy Johnson (Fred) of Armuchee, GA.; 3 grandchildren, Joel, Jacob and Sarah Pittard. He was preceded in death by his father in 2007 and a daughter, Elizabeth Smith in 2001.

 

Funeral services for Gary Richard Smith will be conducted on Monday afternoon, November 12th, 2012, at 2 o’clock at the Floyd Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend David Cobb, the Reverend Jamey Collins and the Reverend Jim Austin officiating. Interment will be in the family lot of Floyd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Gary will lie-in-state at the church on Monday from 12:30 until the funeral hour.

Mr. Christopher Allen Obit (M)

Mr. Christopher Lee Cody Allen, age 22, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Allen was born in Rome, Georgia on June 20, 1990, son of Doris Perkins Allen and the late Lee Randolph “Randy” Allen. He was a 2008 graduate of Gaylesville High School, where he excelled in their football program. Mr. Allen attended the United By Faith Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, hike and fish. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections at the Hays State Prison and was a member of the Georgia Correctional Officers Foundation. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Randy Allen and a niece, Jazmine Alese Nichols.

Chris is survived by his mother, Doris Allen; sisters and brother-in-law, Jennifer Lee and Gary Duane Nichols of Rome and Sarah Elizabeth Allen; girlfriend, Andrea Starrett; Special Nieces, Marissa and Myracle Nichols; and a number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Funeral Services for Chris will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. Douglas Crumbley officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shane Hatcher, Matthew Jackson, Kevin Daniel, Jason Brewster, Lamar Hall, and Stetson Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joel Lewis, Johnny Hudson, John Cox, Mac Cox, Matt Burgess, Lt. Randy Reed and all of his co-workers at Hays State Prison.
