Mrs. Wilma Mae Dunwoody Martin (M)

 Mrs. Wilma Mae Dunwoody Martin, age 87, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday March, 9, 2013,  in the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Martin was born April 15, 1925, in Lafayette, GA, the daughter of the late William Anderson and Ada Mae Cordell Dunwoody.  She was retired having worked at E. T. Barwick  and Fieldcrest Canon, She was  a member of the Trion 1st Baptist Church and preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Martin, sisters, Luda D. Baker, Ruth Elliott, Matelene Ridley, brothers, William Earl Dunwoody, Glenn Dunwoody, Abb Dunwoody, and Tom Dunwoody.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Ava and Roland Jones, Kay and Roger Barfield, grandchildren, Krista J. & (Randy) Henderson, Bradley & (Kerry) Jones, Alexis B. & (Aaron) Swanson, Lon Barfield, 5 great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Henderson, Peyton Henderson, Jodie Henderson, Nate Swanson, Nicolas Swanson, a special friend, Rubie  McWilliams, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service for Mrs. Wilma Mae Dunwoody Martin will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 12, 2013 from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jody Brock officiating.
Active pallbearers, Roland Jones, Roger Barfield, Brad Jones, Randy Henderson, Aaron Swanson, Lon Barfield.  In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to your favorite charity.  The family respectfully requests no food please.

Mr. Junior Winfield Fleming, age 75, of Summerville, GA died Friday, March 08, 2013
at his residence.
 
Mr. Fleming was born April 24, 1937 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late
Hugh Leonard Fleming and Eva Milinda Parckerson Fleming.  He was a member of Cedarlake Christian Center.  Mr. Fleming was retired from the Chattooga County Board of Education. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. Other than his parents, Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Rutledge Fleming.
 
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen & Tracy Fleming; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie Angela & Miles Bagley, Joyce Renea & Jeff Hurley, brother & Sister-in-law, James & Sherry Fleming, sisters & brother-in-law, Charlotte & Jerry Rutledge, Dorothy McLemore, grandchildren and spouses, Miles & Brittney Bagley, Isaiah Bagley, Elijah Hurley, Madison & Steven Blazer.

Mr. Hugh Morgan – (ER)

MR. WAYMON HUGH MORGAN, age 81, of Raymond Street-Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, in a Rome hospital. Born in Dekalb County, Alabama on May 9, 1931, He was a son of the late John T. and Vera Tommie Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church and the Pathway Sunday School Class of the Church. He was a Veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of V.F.W. Post #6688, American Legion Post #129, and D.A.V. Chapter #49. Mr. Morgan worked for Georgia Rug Mill for 31 years and ITT Lester, in Rome, for 15 years as a dye cast operator; he was preceded in death by his wife the late Goldie F. Stoker Morgan, sisters-the late Frances Seals and Judy Payne.

Surviving are his daughter, Karen Cargle of Armuchee; grandchildren-Christopher Cargle and Stephanie Cargle; sister-Delia Ann Morgan Cory of Acworth, Georgia; special friends-Deanna Evett, and Dennis & Melanie Howard; also his chihuahua’s- Co Co and Mia.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11th, at 2 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Mary Ann Davenport, Obit. (EP)

   Mrs. Mary Ann Davenport, age 77 of Flintstone, Ga, formerly of Trion, Ga, passed

away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the residence of a daughter. Mrs. Davenport was

born June 23, 1935 in Trion, Ga. Mrs. Davenport was retired from Mount Vernon

Mills and was a member of the Lafayette Church of God. She was a very hard

worker, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a poet;

and she touched many with the way she lived.

   Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband, Willam Calvin

Davenport; daughter, Sheila Collette; father and mother, James A. Russell and

Gertrude Oralee Maples Russell; sister, Shirley Meford; and brother, Curtis Russell.

   Mrs. Davenport is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Trina and Jack Harvey of

Flintstone, Ga; grandson, Jody Collette of Trion, Ga; granddaughter, Kirby Miles of

Flintstone, Ga; brother and sister-in-law, James and Catherine Russell of Trion, Ga;

very special friends, Mel and Kimberly Kocher of Ringgold, Ga; several nieces and

nephews.

   Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the

chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Singletary, Rev. Gary Howell

officiating. Rev. Jack Harvey will do the committal at the graveside. Interment will be

in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.

MRS. RUBY LEE KIRBY, age 97, of Kirby Hollow Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, afternoon.  A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Sam and Etta Mixon Phillips on February 2, 1916.  Mrs. Kirby was Presbyterian by Faith, a Homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late George S. Kirby, children-Sara McArthur, L.M. Phillip Kirby, Jerry Kirby, Donald Kirby.

Surviving are daughters-Dorothy Haney of Valley Head, AL., Kathryn Gravitt, Pat Kirby, Edith Lunsford all of Summerville, Wanda Langston and Linda Stoner-Fowler both of Rome, and Myra McCary of Gore Community; 32 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, several Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8th, at 2 P.M. from the J. D Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Elwin B. King Obit (M)

Mr. Elwin B. King, age 92, of LaFayette, GA died Tuesday, March 05, 2013

at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mr. King was born January 28, 1921 in Fort Payne, AL, the son of the late

Liburn H. King and Hester Hicks King.  He was a member of Trion First Baptist

Church and a member of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.  Mr. King was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in WWII. Other than his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Tucker King.

 

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Debbie King; grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and K. C. King, Libby and Mikey

Worthington; and a great grandson, Will Worthington.

 

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd Roebuck and Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating.

Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Mikey

Mr. Kenneth Lee Kinsey, II, age 32, of Summerville, GA died Saturday, March

2, 2013 at his residence.

 

Mr. Kinsey was born September 8, 1980 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, the son of

Kenneth Lee Kinsey and Jean Ellenburg.  He was employed with Pirelli Tires.

Mr. Kinsey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jessie Mae Kinsey and

Gordon W. Kinsey.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mindy Kinsey; son, Christian Lee Kinsey; mother,

Jean Ellenburg; father and step-mother, Kenneth Lee and Sue Kinsey; brothers

and sisters-in-law, Brian and Pat Corey, Matt Ammons, Alan Ammons, Gordon

Mrs. Margie Ruth Henderson Obit (EP)

   Mrs. Margie Ruth Henderson, age 98 of Tinney Road, Trion, GA passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Henderson was born in Halls Valley, Chattooga County, GA on November 18, 1914.  She was retired from Summerville Manufacturing and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.

   Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by husband, Wiley Thomas Henderson, Sr.; father and mother, W. T. Westbrook and Cora Hall Westbrook; sister, Nevada Hollis; brothers, Paul Westbrook, Roy Westbrook, Felton Westbrook, Henry Westbrook, and Roland Westbrook.

   Mrs. Henderson is survived by son, Wiley Thomas Henderson, Jr.; granddaughter, Christie Lynn Turner of North Carolina and grandson, Steve Salerno of Jacksonville, FL; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Neva Hawkins; several nieces and nephews.

Jesse Clark

Jesse T. Clark, 17, of Ringgold, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from injuries received 

in an automobile accident.

Jesse was a member of the Junior Class at Heritage High School. He was of the Baptist Faith. 

Jesse worked at Steak and Shake and was a volunteer with the Catoosa County Rescue

CERT team.

Survivors are his mother and step-father, Michelle and Corby Searcy; father, Gregory Scott

Clark; brother, Brandon Scott Clark; grandparents, Kenneth Flood, Sandra and Hershel Wilbanks,

Judy Clark, Larry Clark and Tammy Lee; uncles and aunts, Jeremiah Flood, Josh and Samantha

Mr. Roger Dale Godwin, age 75 of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 in a Rome hospital.

 

Mr. Godwin was born in Lanett, AL. on March 15, 1937, the son of the late John E. Godwin and Helen Sykes Godwin. Prior to his retirement Mr.Godwin was employed with Art Marble and Stone in Chamblee, GA. He enjoyed his time with his daughter and granddaughter and working at Rivermont Farm. Mr. Godwin loved to play golf and snow skiing. Mr. Godwin was a man who loved God.

 

Survivors include his son, Max Godwin of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Ashley Godwin of Lyerly, GA; his granddaughter, Gracie McDaniel; a brother, Tommy Godwin of Newnan, GA and sister, Susan Godwin of Newnan, GA.

 

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Trion Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Trion, GA with Dr. William Flannagan officiating.
