Mr. John M. Carroll, age 73, of Lyerly, GA., passed away Sunday September 28, 2008, in  Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carroll was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Lowell, MA., the son of the late John T. and Jean   Bertha Andrysak Carroll.  Mr. Carroll was retired Sgt Major from the U.S. Army with 30 years of   service, he had over 24 different awards including  army commendation medals,service medals,   bronze stars, legion of merit awards, and others. He spend  tours of duty in Germany, England,   Italy, Vietnam, was Inaugural NCO for President Nixon?s Inauguration in 1969, AG Sergent at Ft   McPherson, received several diplomas stating with Leo University FL.,  State University of New   York, Albany, he spend his last 10 years, as a substitute teacher with  Chattooga and Walker   Counties, he was a former member of the Lyerly City Council having served for five years.   Survivors include his wife, Marion Carroll, daughters, Jennifer Carroll, Kennesaw, GA., Debbie   Evans, Knaresborough, England, grandchildren, Natalie and Lynette Evans.   Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Mason Funeral Home.   Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. John M. Laws Obit

Miss Nora Mae Laws, age 87, of Summerville, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at her residence. Miss Laws was born in Cherokee County, AL on September 27, 1920. She was retired from Riegel Textile Corporation after 39 years of service and was a member of the Mount Bethel Baptist Church.

Miss Laws was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert Joe and Julian Hurley Laws, sisters, Bonnie Louise Laws, Josie Laws, Winnie Laws Freeman and Edith Marie Laws; brothers, Fletcher Laws, Taylor Laws, Joe Laws and Berry Laws.

Miss Laws is survived by a sister, Etna McCullough of Birningham, AL; nephew, Dexter Laws of Summerville and great nieve, Tara McElroy of Woodstock, GA; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 24,2008 at 1:00 pm from the chapel o fthe Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Internment will follow in the Mount Bethel Church Cemetery.

Miss Laws will lie-in-state Tuesday September 23,2008 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jim McElroy, terry Payne, Bobby Nixson, Shawn Wright, Don Wright, and Shane Wilson. They are asked to assemble at the Funeral home at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mrs. Cynthia Pauline Crowe, age 88 of Gaylesville, AL passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Crowe was born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 15, 1920, daughter of the late Robert ?Bob? Dempsey and Francis Keith Dempsey.  She was a member of the New Hope Independent Church in Jamestown, AL and prior to retirement was employed with Best Manufacturing. Mrs. Crowe is survived by her husband of 70 years, James L. Crowe of Gaylesville; Daughter and Son-in- law, Barbara and Odell Hammett of Gaylesville; Sisters, Sarah Jeneal Wilson, Michigan, and   Bobbie Allison, California; grandchildren, Dale (Vickie) Hammett, Jeff (Danae) Hammett and Cindy (Billy Don) DeBerry; great grandchildren, Meagan Tabb, Josh Tabb, Jon Hammett, Katlin Hammett, Sydney Hammett, Lauren Hammett, Trey Deberry, and Emily DeBerry. Funeral Services for Mrs. Crowe will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with her Grandson, Rev. Mrs.Mary Elizabeth McGraw, age 76, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday  September 17, 2008 at Floyd Medical Center.  Mrs. McGraw was born November 18, 1931 in Falkner, Mississippi.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Garner Womack.  Mrs. McGraw was formerly employed with Hurley?s where she worked as a cashier. Mrs. McGraw is survived by her husband, Clyde McGraw, and son, Clyde  Garner McGraw, both of Summerville, GA.; and a sister, Earlene Bailey, Byhalia, MS   Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon (CST) Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Faulkner, MS.  Rev Jody Hill will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Summerville, passed away Sunday September 14th in a Rome Hospital.  A native of Dekalb county Alabama and was born to the late Robert Lee and Emma Octavia Garmany Timmons on February 18th, 1926.  She was a member of South Summerville Baptist and was retired from the card room of Mt. Vernon Mills.  she was preceded in death by step daughter the late Diane Lovelace, Stepson the late Gerald Ward, sister the late Uarry Nell Young and brother R. B. Mr. Ricky Rance McNair, age 60, of LaFayette, GA died Monday, September 8, 2008 at his residence. Mr. McNair was born October 26, 1947 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the late Ted Franklin and Lillian Mozelle Webb McNair.  He was retired from the United States Army.  Mr. McNair was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ.  He was Preceded in death by a son, James Harold Ward, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Judy Gail Clements McNair; son, Jerry Wayne McNair, Millbrook, AL; step-mother, Cassie McNair, Summerville, GA; and a brother, Larry Ronnie McNair, LaFayette, GA.
