Mr. Raymond Lloyd “Rick” Hudson, age 46, of Gaylesville, AL died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hudson was born February 14, 1962 in Chattanooga, TN, the son of Lloyd Hudson and Joyce Wilbank Hudson. He was employed at Best Manufacturing. Mr. Hudson was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, John David Hudson; grandparents, Pollard & Viola Hudson and Jay and Virgie Wilbanks.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Hudson; children, Johnny Ray Hudson and Emily Hudson, all of Gaylesville, AL; mother, Joyce Hudson, Menlo, GA; father, Lloyd Hudson, KY; sisters, Teri Hudson, Menlo, GA, Christine Perez, Chattanooga, TN, Peggy Wilson, PA, Deana Hudson, Lynn Hudson, and Jessica Hudson, all of KY; brothers, Lloyd Hudson, James Hudson, PA, George Hudson, FL, and Michael Hudson, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m (EST) Saturday, May 24, 2008 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Ledford, Rev. Scott Hobbs, and Rev. Marvin Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in AMI Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sammy Hall, Ronald Dunn, Wayne Stancil, Phillip Hudgins, Daniel Hall and Misael Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Chesterfield Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class, and Employees of Best Manufacturing.

Mr. Thomas Raymond Shadwrick, age 84, of Summerville died on Wednesday at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.

Mr. Shadwrick was born March 13, 1924 in Etowah County, Alabama the son of the late Joe Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Moses Shadwrick.

Mr. Shadwrick is survived by several Nieces, Nephews and special friends Michael and Faye Middleton.

Funeral Services will beheld at 2 PM Friday May 23, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating.  Burial wil follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Mr. Shadwrick will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 13 noon until 2 PM on Friday.

Mrs. Rosa Dell Boyd Floyd, age 84, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Floyd was born July 31, 1923 in Cherokee County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert H. & Alice Cash Boyd. She was retired from Best Manufacturing and was a member of the Berea Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Spot” Floyd; brothers, Walt Boyd, J. C. Boyd, Roy Boyd, Jack Boyd; sister, Otha Mae Barnes; daughter, Sheila Winters; sons, Glen David Hughes, Terry Winters; daughter-in-law, Hazel Hughes; granddaughter, Regina Little; grandson, Phillip Hughes.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris & Herschel Reed, Summerville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey & Joyce Hughes, Trion, GA, Tim & Kelli Winters, Summerville, GA; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hughes, Rome, GA; sisters, Annie Ruth Russell, Chattanooga, TN, June Day, Summerville, GA; 13 Grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Reed, Justin Little, Ralph Barnes, Gordon Boyd, Greg Day, and Lamar Mann.

Mr. Jackie Len Brock, age 50, of Summerville, GA., passed away Saturday May 17, 2008 after a long illness.

Mr. Brock was born in Walker County Georgia, Oct. 8, 1957, the son of the late J.C. Brock, and Dorothy Dudley Brock. He was a member of the body of Christ, and was an Auto Paint & Body Repairman.

Mrs. Mattie Jewel Elrod, age 84, of Lyerly, GA., passed away Saturday May 17, 2008, at her residence.

Mrs. Elrod was born June 17, 1923, in Cherokee County Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert and Letha Parker Hurley. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Frank Elrod, sister, Ruby Tallent, brothers, James Hurley, Halbert Hurley, Raymond Hurley.

Survivors include, sons, Fred Elrod, Lyerly, GA., Lee Elrod, Summerville, GA., daughters, Sheila Elrod, Sharon Elrod, Carol Jones, Lyerly, GA., Delois Suit, Summerville, GA., Susan Sparks, Trion, GA., sister, Pearl Hester, Rinehart, AL., 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.

Graveside and Interment Services will be held Tuesday May 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Minister Wayne Kelley officiating.

Hawkins Obit

Mr. John Lewis Hawkins, age 60, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. from injuries sustained in a house fire on April 14, 2008.

Mr. Hawkins was born October 22, 1947 in Trion, GA, the son of the late J. D. and Margaret Hines Hawkins. He was employed with Reichhold Chemical. Mr. Hawkins was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Hawkins and a nephew, Chris Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Ann Hawkins; daughters, Karen Ann Hawkins, Summerville, GA, Rachel Nicole Hunter, Trion, GA; step-daughter, Michelle Jackson, Teloga, GA, grandchildren, Spencer Johnson and Blake Johnson; step-grandchildren, Austin McConnell and C. J. Jackson; great grandchild, Mashalee Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Harris and Rev. Ronnie Pettyjohn officiating. Bishop Obit

Mr. Ronnie B. Bishop, age 60, of Summerville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bishop was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 3, 1947, son of the late Youl Buford Bishop and Gladys Aretta Hardin Bishop. He was retired from Mohawk as a Quality Control Manager, with over 41 years of service. Mr. Bishop was an avid drag racing fan and was a weekend warrior at the drag strip.

Mr. Bishop is survived by a son, Zach Bishop of Summerville; daughter, Tiffany Bishop Large of Birmingham; two sisters, Cathy Gray of Gadsden and Shelia Smith of Ohatchee, AL; two grandchildren, Connor Large and Braylin Bishop, and all of his drag racing family.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bishop will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 12:00 Noon in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Bluff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Matt Moon, Billy Cook, Gunter Moon, and Jimmy Scruggs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Booney Cunningham, Melvin Croft, and Joel Gray.

Eller Obit – Drowning Victim

Mr. Dewayne Eller, age 17, of Summerville passed away Saturday from an accidental drowning near Summerville.  Dewayne was born March 12, 1991 in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA He was a member of the Sophmore Class of Chattooga High School and was on the Wrestling Team and was active in the Special Olympics.

Surving are his Mother and Stepfather Wendy Ann and John Siffles; Father and Stepmother, Tony and Melissa Eller; Grandparents Jack Sr, and Mary Siffles; and sister Stacy Eller; Uncle Jack Siffles, Jr. all of Summerville; several Great Aunts and Great Uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will beheld Thursday at 1 PM from the JD Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Edgeworth and Rev. Ricky Biddle officiating.  Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery.  Activ pallbearers: Joseph Edgeworth, Terry Green, John Siffles, David Martin, Damion Moore, and Colt Siffles; honorary pallbearers: Justin Fitzpatrick, TJ Fountain, Shane Elrod and the Wrestling Team of Chattooga High School.

KEITH OBIT

Mrs. Mary Ina Keith, age 92, a lifelong resident of Chattooga County, passed away on Sunday May 11 in Albertville, AL.  Mrs. Keith was born August 29, 1915 in Henager, AL.  She was retired from Riegel Textile and was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by her husband, John Krema Keith; parents Willie and Bethuel Wright Rush; son in law, Ray Knowles; sister, Genola Newman; brothers, A.B.Rush, Clara Rush, Otha Rush, Llloyd Rush, Glenn Rush, Luther RUsh, Reuben Rush and Floyd Rush.

Mrs. Keith is survived by her daughers, Katherine Brock of Honea Path, SC and Joyce Knowles of Albertville, AL.; sons and daughters in law, Larry and Juanita Keith of Cedartown, GA and James and Joyce Keith of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren, eleven great – grandchildren and several neices and nephews also survived.

Mrs. Keith will lie in state Monday at the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive firends form 5 to 8 P.M.

Funeral services willbe conducted Tuesday May 13 at 11 AM from the Pennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne White officiating.  Interment will floolw in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gary Knowles, David Knowles, Steve Knowles, Greg Brock, John Keith, and Brian Keith.  THe pallbearers are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM.
