Farmer Obit

Mrs. Fannie Lou Farmer, age 83, of Summerville, GA., passed away Thursday May 8, 2008,in Hutcheson Medical Center. Mrs. Farmer was born November 25, 1924, in Lancaster, S. C. the daughter of the late Fred and Maude Keel Leonard. She was a homemaker and preceded in death by her Husband, the late William Howard Farmer in 1968, sister, Willie Mae Dudley, and a brother, Thomas David Leonard.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Pickle, Summerville, GA., sisters, Ruby Swanson,and Bertha Deaton both of Rome, GA., 3 Grandsons, 3 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday May 12, 2008, from the West Hill Cemetery,with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Terry Davenport, Jerry Davenport, Joe Davenport, Frankie Pickle, Randy Finister, Adam Jenkins. Mrs. Farmer will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday May 12, 2008 from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

 

Ingle Obit

Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Ingle, age 92, of Trion, passed away Wednesday, May 07, 2008 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Ingle was born in Trion, Georgia on October 30, 1915, daughter of the late James Hines and Nola Sosebee Hines. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Ingle was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ingle and a daughter, Betty Ruth Ingle.

Mrs. Ingle is survived by Nieces and Nephews, Pauline & Mitchell Hines, Johnnie Neal, Doris Hall, Buddy Hines, Patsy Rich, Barbara Farrow, Betty Stoner, Jean Allen and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ingle will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pennville Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Ingle will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home.

 

Bud Love Obit

Mr. William "Bud" Love of Summerville passed away May 9th at his residence.  He was born August 20, 1931 in Cherokee County, AL to the late Bill and Avis Love.  He was retired from the Rocky Mtn. Project and had worked at JP Smith Lumber company for over 15 years as a truck driver and had worked for Patty Construction for 11 years.  He attended the Missionary Alliance Church and was preceded in death by two sons, CM & Michael Love and a sister Ruth Coker.

He is survived by his wife of 54 1/2 years of marriage, Marge Love of Summerville, four children: Linda and Carl Dobbs of Ft. Payne, AL, Terry Love of Athens GA, Huey and Dawn Love and Steve and Jane Love of Summerville.  Daughter in law Jennie Love, of Summerville, Sister and Brother In Law Jenny and Bill Tucker of Middleburg, FL, brothers Winston Love of Chattanooga, TN, Walter and Nell Love of Trion, David Love and Vera of Summerville, Ben and Pat Love of Summerville, Robert and Margie Love of Trion.  Several Grandchildren: Tony Dobbs, Kristy and Ricky Burbal, ANgela and Andy Galloway, Preston Wofford, Michael and Casey Love, Tracey and MIchael Martell, Megan Bowden, Jeremy and April Davenport; five great grandchildren and a number of  nieces and nephews.  Also survived by special children; Nancy and Bobby Ward, Bernadette and Danny Cooper and Charles and Kathy Ratledge.

 Funeral Services will be conducted Monday May 12 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Erwin Petitt Funeral Home with Bill Moore, Rev. Peter Leonovich and Rev. Carlos Martenez officitating.  INterment will follow in the Greenhills Memorial Gardens.

Pall bearers are request to meet at the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home on Monday at 10:30 AM and include the following: Richard and Seth Lindsey, Clinton Agnew, Gary Talley, Terry Smith, Jim Bagley and Charles Black.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. JP Smith, Mr and Mrs Ray Walker, Mr and Mrs Gary McConnell, Mr and Mrs Leon Gardner, Mr and Mrs Roy Brown, Ms Sadle Croy, Mr and Mrs Jackie Hamilton, Ms Pam Helms, Mr and Mrs Lum Stonner and nurses from Country Side Hospice.

Mr Love will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday evening May 11 where the family will receive frineds form 6 until 8 PM.  At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.

Roy Smith Obit

Preacher – Pastor Roy H. Smith, of Summerville, GA, went to his heavenly homeon Thursday May 8th.  He was born in Powder Spring, GA June 29, 1922 to the late George Harrison and ANgie Smith.  He was saved by the marvelous grace of God, after hearing Bro. Jesse Henley preach on the radio, on a cold Satuday morning in February of 1938. He was called to preach in 1940 at the age of 17 and had been faithful to preach the Gospel since that time.  Bro. Roy served as the pastor of over 16 churches, one of which he felt compelled by God to constitute in Paulding County, GA.  He was known as the Compassionate Country Preacher. Preacher Smith was preceded in death by four sisters; Vinnie and Nennie Smith, Vada Wingate, Eunia Lee Puckett.  Four Brothers: Earl, Hoke, Luke and Joe Smith.

He is survived by his family of which there are eight preachers and eight pianist; his wife Cornelia of 61 years of marriage, one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Allen Grimes of Aragon, GA; four sons and daughters-in-law: Samuel and Joyce Smith of Piedmont, AL, David and Loretta Smith of Rome, GA, Pastor Joel and Karen Smith of Summerville, and Timothy and Martha Ann Smith of Trion.  Eleven grandchildren, Sharon Grimes Weaver, Anna Grimes Hamby, Shad Smith, Crystal Smith, Jonathan Smith, Michael Smith, Daniel Smith, Elisabeth Smith Mitchell, Laura Smith Tomlin, Megan Smith, Emil Smith Tomlinand 16 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

The home going celebration will be on Monday May 12th at his home church, The Rome Baptist Temple with his pastor Dr. Billy Goolseby and Pastor Joel Smith officiating.  Intement will be in the Aragon Cemetery.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all pastor and preacher friends.  His earthly tabernacle will be in state at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville on Saturday May 10th where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM.  Bro Roy will also be in state Monday from 12 noon until service time at the Rome Baptist Temple.  In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to The Upward Look  P.O. Box 242 Summerville, GA 30747 where the preaching and radio ministry will continue.  Earle Rainwater Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pope Obit

Mrs. Ann Christol Pope, age 73 of Central Avenue, Trion passed awyay Tuesday May 6th in the Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Pope was born on February 8, 1935 in Chatooga County, GA and was precede in death by her parents, Robert Franklin and Rosa Lee Braddy Christol.  She was retired from the United States Forestry Service after approximately 40 years of service, and was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her husband of 52 years, J.R. Pope of Trion; daughter and soin-in-law, Lori and PReston Cash of Armuchee, GA; sister, Katherine Butler of Riverdale, GA; and a brother, Bob Christol of Ringgold, GA.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday May 8th at 3:00 P.M. from the West Hill Cemetary with Rev. Waydell Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetary.

Visitation will be Thursday at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M.

Abernathy Obit

Mrs. Mae Bell Abernathy, age 91 of Milton Circle in Summerville, passed away Sunday evening at her residence.  She was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on April 20, 1917 to the late Dutch and Mary Blevins Haggard.  Mrs Abernathy attended the Pentecostal Worship Center, was retired from the weave shop of the former Summerville Mfg. Company, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Woodrow Abernathy in 1981.

Surviving are dauthers Ann Martin and Pam Dennis; son Jack Warren; Grandchildren Billy Martin, Jr., Brenda Beardon, Shelly Strange, and Emily Kindell all of Summerville; several Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 P.M. from the graveside in the Summerville Cemetary with Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating.

Mrs. ImogeneHudgins Brooks, age 80, of Big Canoe, Jasper, GA., passed away Friday May 2, 2008 in Scared Journey Hospice Center, in McDonough, GA.

Mrs. Brooks was born June 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Major and Maude Hudgins. She was the widow of the late William Douglas Brooks of Trion, GA.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Billy Williamson, McDonough, GA., sister, Wilma Patterson, Summerville, GA., grandchildren, Tonya Mason, McDonough, GA., Terri Mobley, Gough, GA., great-grandson, 5 year old William Thomas Mason, McDonough, GA.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. until the service hour on Wednesday

Wofford Obit

Mr. Thomas Bryant Wofford, age 81, of Menlo, GA died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Cartersville, GA.

Mr. Wofford was born March 2, 1927 in Summerville, GA the son of the late Thomas Walton and Margaret Jones Wofford. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Wofford was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his four children, Elizabeth Carr Wofford, and his second wife, Virginia Hawkins Wofford.

Survivors include his children, John Wofford, Menlo, GA, Glenn Wofford, Waldo, FL, Jo Ann Holton, High Spring, FL, Nancy Wofford, Menlo, GA, brother, Joe Wofford, Lake Geneva, FL, sister, Joyce Paxton, St. Augustine, FL, 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Max McKinley Brown, age 92, of Summerville, GA died Friday, May 2, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born August 30, 1915 in Walker County, Georgia, the son of the late Thomas and Dovie Miller Brown. He was a veteran of World War II, retired from Georgia Rug Mill.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eva Brown, sons, Kenneth M. Brown, Anthony L. Brown, of Summerville, Ga, and Bobby O. Brown, Mississippi, brothers, Carl Brown and Deaner Brown, Marietta, Ga, sister, Georgia Peace, Trion, GA, grandchildren, Abbey Gail Brown, Christy Thackerson, Anthony Ladon Brown, II, Casey Ladon Brown, Richey Allen Brown, Lance Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday May 4, 2008 at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Pastor Edward Skoret officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Ware Obit

Mr. Richard Alton Ware, age 65, of Summerville, GA died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ware was born December 10, 1942 in Walker County, GA, the son of the late John Alton and Dorothy Little Ware. He was an active member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church for the past 30 years. He served as a deacon for 20 years and taught Sunday School for several years. He worked in Management at several carpet mills and was successful in starting a plant. He was preceded in death by his first wife to whom he was married for 41 years, Doris Booker Ware.

Mr. Ware is survived by his wife, Pat Elsberry Ware; son, Kevin L. Ware, Summerville, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Kristi D. and Roy Bennett, step-daughter, Cindy Allen, Summerville, GA; stepson and wife, Glen and Sherry Elsberry, Tuscaloosa, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Pam Ware, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Angel Meadows and John K. Ware; step grandchildren, Will Allen, Wes Allen, Mason Elsberry, and Jackson Elsberry, nephew and wife, Jason and Donna Ware, niece, Ashley Ware, great niece, Jaden Ware.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Perennial Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Stamey and Rev. Waydell Howell officiating.
