A Chattooga County woman was arrested earlier this week following a traffic stop in neighboring Floyd County.
According to reports, the stop occurred on Floyd Springs Road at Old Summerville Road, where a driver was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving. During the stop, deputies discovered evidence that led to additional charges.
Floyd County Jail records show that 54-year-old Lesa Paulette Debenport of Summerville was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance after authorities reportedly found a THC vape in her possession.
In addition to the felony drug charge, Debenport is also facing charges of driving under the influence and distracted driving.
She was transported to the Floyd County Jail following her arrest. No further details about the incident have been released at this time.
