The Coosa River Basin Initiative is keeping lines of communication open with local legislators on several water-related issues during the 2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly.
Courtnee Davenport, CRBI Outreach Coordinator, says the organization is partnering with the Georgia Water Coalition to support legislation focused on PFAS transparency, protecting the Okefenokee, and addressing potential threats to Georgia’s water resources from data centers. Davenport says CRBI’s goal is to promote smart, sustainable development when it comes to data center growth in the state.
Residents concerned about these issues are invited to join the Georgia Water Coalition for Capitol Conservation Day at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on February 26.
CRBI is also welcoming new members to join its mission of cleaner water. The nonprofit is active locally in Chattooga County, where it frequently monitors water quality, issues warnings about E. coli levels, and works to address pollution concerns in the Chattooga River.
