A 55-year-old man was arrested after a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported observing a vehicle being driven erratically on Trion Teloga Road.

According to the incident report, Deputy Justin Claxton was traveling westbound on Trion Teloga Road on Tuesday, September 8, when he observed a green Jeep Wrangler traveling in the opposite direction.

The deputy reported seeing the Jeep make a sudden turn into a driveway without signaling before backing into the roadway and continuing toward Harrisburg Road.

The deputy turned around and caught up with the vehicle approximately two-tenths of a mile later. According to the report, the Jeep was traveling slowly and crossed the center line several times.

After stopping the vehicle, the deputy identified the driver as Anthony Lee Hogue, 55. The report states Hogue had slow and slurred speech and that his face appeared red.

Hogue reportedly told the deputy that he had consumed two small Fireball shooters several hours earlier. The deputy also reported seeing an alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hogue performed field sobriety testing and was subsequently placed under arrest.

The report states Hogue was read Georgia’s implied consent notice and agreed to submit to a state-administered chemical test of his blood.

He was transported to the Chattooga County Jail and charged with DUI – Drugs and failure to maintain lane.
