Residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia can expect a stretch of dry, pleasant weather to start the week, but those same conditions are raising concerns about fire danger across the region.
Cooler air has settled in behind a recent cold front, bringing morning temperatures in the 40s and 50s with afternoon highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s under partly cloudy skies. Sunshine and low humidity will dominate through midweek, creating near-perfect outdoor conditions—but also increasing the risk for hazardous fire weather.
Officials warn that dry air and occasional gusty winds, especially on Tuesday, could allow fires to spread quickly if they start. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire.
By late week, temperatures will begin climbing well above normal, with highs approaching 80 degrees by the weekend across much of Northwest Georgia. Rain chances remain very low, meaning the dry pattern is expected to continue.
Overall, it’s a beautiful but potentially risky stretch of weather—great for enjoying the outdoors, but requiring awareness as fire danger remains elevated.
