Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia will enjoy dry and mild conditions through Saturday, with afternoon highs generally reaching the 60s. Higher elevations may remain in the 40s and 50s, but overall temperatures will stay above seasonal averages.
Cloud cover will gradually increase through the day Saturday as high pressure shifts east. Despite the clouds, conditions are expected to remain dry through most of the daylight hours. Relative humidity values could dip to around 25 percent during the afternoon, maintaining fairly dry air across the region.
Rain chances rise late Saturday night, with widespread rainfall likely from Saturday night through Monday morning. Scattered light showers could begin before sunrise Sunday, with steadier rain moving in during the morning and afternoon hours. While a few thunderstorms are possible, especially farther south into central Georgia, the overall severe weather threat in Northwest Georgia remains low — but not zero.
Forecasters note that limited instability and cloud cover should keep strong storms isolated at best. Rainfall totals across Chattooga County and surrounding areas are expected to range between one-half inch and one inch, with slightly higher amounts possible in elevated terrain. The chance of rainfall exceeding 1.5 inches locally remains low.
Showers may linger into early Monday before drier conditions return. High pressure is expected to build back into the region through midweek, bringing warmer temperatures and mostly dry weather. Another weak system could approach late in the week, offering a small chance of additional showers by Thursday or Friday.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts through the weekend, especially if outdoor plans extend into Sunday.
