Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia will see a slow warm-up through midweek, with highs climbing back into the 50s and 60s as southerly flow increases.
Clouds will thicken and conditions may turn dreary at times Wednesday, with a small chance of a light, spotty shower developing in Northwest Georgia later in the day—any rainfall before Thursday should be minimal.
Rain chances increase Thursday, with the best opportunity arriving Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Expect scattered to widespread showers, and a few rumbles of thunder are possible, but widespread severe weather is not expected at this time.
A cold front moves through late Thursday night into Friday morning, pushing rain out west to east by around sunrise Friday. Behind it, cooler and drier air arrives, bringing a brief cool-down Friday with breezy northwest winds.
Looking ahead, temperatures dip into the colder range Friday night into Saturday morning, with some areas in Northwest Georgia possibly near freezing early Saturday, then warming returns over the weekend. Another weak system could bring spotty light showers Sunday into Sunday night, followed by more seasonable temperatures early next week—with indications trending milder again heading toward Christmas.
