Waves of rainfall are expected across Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia from today through Tuesday as a cold front and multiple disturbances move across the region. The first round of showers began early this morning, and additional periods of rain will continue throughout the day. Temperatures locally remain in the 40s and 50s, so no winter weather impacts are expected for our area.

Rain will continue off and on through tonight as the front stalls to the south. Another wave of moisture moves in on Monday, bringing another stretch of steady rainfall across Northwest Georgia. By Monday night, many locations in our region could pick up one to one-and-a-half inches of rain, with some isolated spots nearing two inches by Tuesday morning. While the widespread flooding threat remains low due to recently dry conditions, residents should be aware of ponding on roadways and clogged drains due to fallen leaves.

Temperatures will stay cool, with highs today in the upper 40s to upper 50s across Northwest Georgia. Lows tonight will fall into the 30s and 40s, and Monday’s highs will climb only slightly into the 50s and low 60s.

Rain is expected to taper off Tuesday afternoon as the storm system moves out, but another round of precipitation is likely to return to the region toward the end of the week—especially on Friday, when another system approaches.
