Those who donate between April 1 and April 15 will also be entered into the Blood Assurance “BA Local Hero” promotion, with a chance to win one of several $100 gift cards being awarded across participating communities.
Appointments can be scheduled online through Blood Assurance, and walk-ins may be accepted as space allows. Officials encourage residents to consider donating and supporting the ongoing need for blood supplies across the region.

In addition, Blood Assurance is offering an incentive for donors. Anyone who donates between April 1 and April 15 will be entered to win a $100 gift card, with one winner selected per community and seven winners total.
Community leaders say blood donations are always needed to help hospitals maintain an adequate supply for patients requiring surgeries, treatments, and emergency care.
Chattooga County Emergency Management says there are currently no reported road hazards across the county, but residents are urged to stay cautious as wet surfaces may have iced over in spots, especially on porches, driveways, and less-traveled roads.
EMA says Public Works Director Tim Brunson has been checking roads throughout Chattooga County and reports that while main routes appear to be in good shape, some less-traveled roads do have icy spots. If you must travel, officials ask drivers to take it slow, use caution, and allow extra time.
The cold is expected to hang on today, with temperatures possibly not rising above freezing, and wind chills making it feel even colder. Residents who need to be outdoors are encouraged to dress appropriately in layers and limit time outside, as hypothermia can develop quickly in these conditions.
Chattooga County EMA reports that as of 6:00 a.m., the temperature in the county was 22 degrees, with a wind chill of 11 degrees.
As a winter storm moves into Northwest Georgia, emergency management and local agencies across Chattooga County are urging residents to stay informed, prepare now, and avoid travel if icing develops.
Chattooga County EMA 911 says some customers with certain cell phone providers may currently have trouble reaching the agency on its non-emergency phone lines. Officials say the issue has been reported, but until service is restored, residents who need to contact EMA 911 should use one of the following numbers: 706-578-2244, 706-591-3012, or 706-728-4409.
