The Mayor and Council of the City of Summerville will hold the first reading of the FY 2025–2026 Mid-Year Budget Ordinance on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Summerville Recreation Center, located at 220 Highway 100, Summerville, Georgia 30747, and the public is invited to attend. City officials encourage residents to come out and stay informed as the mid-year budget ordinance is presented for its first reading.
A Trion High School student is among nearly 100 student entrepreneurs from across Georgia who took part in the inaugural statewide Georgia FLEX field trip in Atlanta. Ryder Harris was able to attend because he participates in the FLEX Entrepreneurial Program through the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce.
The next meeting of the Chattooga County Board of Elections and Registration is set for Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2 PM in the lobby of the Registrars Office, located at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville. The meeting is open to the public.
The Board of Elections and Registration plays a major role in local voting, helping oversee voter registration and ensuring elections are conducted fairly and accurately. The board’s work includes maintaining voter rolls, preparing polling locations, training poll workers, and handling key steps in the election process, including the reporting and certification of results.
This meeting comes as attention turns to upcoming special elections for Congress, when deadlines and voting information can change quickly. Election officials encourage residents to stay informed, verify their voter registration, and be aware of important dates as the special election season approaches.
A special election has been called to fill the vacancy in U.S. House District 14, and Chattooga County election officials are encouraging residents to make sure their voter information is current as the contest approaches.
The Summerville City Council meets this evening, Monday, January 12th, at 5 o’clock at City Hall, and the agenda includes several big items for the city.
A new class of local professionals has been announced for Leadership Chattooga 2026, a community leadership program focused on strengthening the county by connecting participants with local resources, key issues, and one another.
A special election has been announced to fill the vacant seat in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District following the resignation of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. The district includes Chattooga County, along with parts of Northwest Georgia, and will soon see a field of candidates seeking to represent the region in Washington.
The Town of Trion will hold a regular Workshop / Council Meeting on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in the Town Hall Conference Room.
The Workshop will begin at 6:00 p.m., and the Regular Meeting will follow shortly after.
