The City of Centre is now accepting applications for a full-time Recreation Director position, offering an opportunity for qualified candidates to help lead and grow community programs.

City of Summerville Seeks Bids for Outdoor Basketball Court Pavilion; Deadline Friday, March 6

The City of Summerville is now accepting sealed bids for the construction and installation of an Outdoor Basketball Court Pavilion, with a submission deadline set for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Bids must be delivered to City of Summerville, 120 Georgia Ave., Summerville, GA 30747 by the deadline. City officials emphasize that late bids will not be accepted or considered, and the city will not be responsible for delays caused by the postal service, carriers, or other delivery issues.

Bids will be opened publicly at 2:00 p.m. on March 6 in the City Hall Council Room, and the contents will be made public for interested respondents and others properly involved. Officials note the bid will not be awarded immediately, allowing designated city officials time to review submissions.

All bids must remain valid for 60 business days and are subject to the conditions outlined in the bid document.

To be considered, submissions must be in sealed envelopes with “RFB-2026-120-Outdoor Basketball Court Pavilion” clearly marked on the outside for identification.

Summerville Prepares for Potential Freezing Weather; Brine Treatment Planned and Warming Shelter Space Available

The City of Summerville is preparing ahead of possible freezing conditions this weekend by pre-treating streets with a brine solution to help reduce ice impacts. City officials say all Public Works staff will be available, and snow and ice removal equipment is ready if conditions worsen.

In addition, the North Summerville Gym will be available to the Chattooga Resource Center to operate a warming shelter as needed.

City officials also announced that City Hall will delay opening on Monday until 10:00 a.m. The update was issued by City Manager Jason Winters.

The City of Summerville has approved a new Water Leak Protection Program designed to help residential water customers avoid the financial shock that can come from undetected leaks. City officials say the program was created to provide peace of mind for households when an unintentional pipe failure or hidden leak leads to unusually high water usage and an unexpected bill. By adopting the resolution, the Mayor and City Council are establishing a safety net intended to reduce the burden on families who may not realize a leak is happening until the utility statement arrives.
