A Summerville man is facing multiple felony charges involving allegations that he molested one child and physically assaulted two other children.
A Summerville man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from an incident in which he admitted striking a Summerville Police officer in the face.
According to Chattooga County Superior Court records, John Howard Trammel, of 19 Church Street in Summerville, pleaded guilty to obstruction of an officer and simple assault.
Trammel was indicted by a Chattooga County Grand Jury on August 11 and entered his guilty plea just two days later, on August 13, before Superior Court Judge Melissa Hise.
Judge Hise sentenced Trammel to three years of probation and ordered him to pay a $1,716 fine. He was also ordered to avoid alcohol and illegal drugs, submit to random drug testing and treatment, and complete 40 hours of community service.
Court records state that Trammel admitted to striking Summerville Police Officer Joshua Mitchell in the face during a call on May 8.
Records also state that Trammel damaged property belonging to Kaileigh Painter during the same incident, including breaking an air conditioner and a window.
The guilty plea resolved the charges against Trammel in Chattooga County Superior Court.

Dennis Harley Taylor was charged with three counts of aggravated child molestation, three counts of child molestation, and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Investigators say the alleged offenses involved a young boy and occurred between September 8 and November 29, 2023. Taylor was arrested on March 29.
The case will proceed through Chattooga County Superior Court. As with all criminal cases, Taylor is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Two people accused of carrying out a drive-by shooting during a family dispute last summer have been indicted by a Chattooga County Grand Jury.
Isaac Hines and Vinta Youngblood were formally charged in connection with a June 29, 2025, shooting incident at a residence on Church Street in Summerville. According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from an ongoing domestic conflict involving several family members.
Authorities say multiple shots were fired into the home while Marcus Ramon Dupree was staying there. Summerville Police Detective Phillip Cox testified that seven rounds were fired at the residence. Investigators allege that Youngblood drove Hines to the location and that Hines fired the weapon from the vehicle.
The grand jury returned indictments charging both Hines and Youngblood with drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, second-degree criminal damage to property, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Youngblood was also indicted on an additional charge of making false statements.
The case remains pending in Chattooga County Superior Court.

A Trion man has been indicted by a Chattooga County Grand Jury in connection with a January assault that prosecutors say left the victim without the use of his arm.
According to the indictment, Brian Hayes George, of 1184 Spring Creek Road in Trion, was formally indicted on one count of aggravated battery stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on January 26.
The indictment alleges that George “maliciously caused bodily harm” to Matthew Rex Porter by depriving him of the use of his arm.
No additional details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault were included in the court filing.
Under Georgia law, aggravated battery is a felony offense. The charge carries the possibility of a prison sentence if a defendant is convicted in court.
