Friday Night High School Football Returns To WZQZ With Two Big Matchups

Friday night lights are back, and WZQZ will be bringing local high school football fans coverage of two big matchups Friday, August 21, as the Chattooga Indians and Trion Bulldogs take the field.

The Chattooga Indians will host the LaFayette Ramblers at Chattooga High School, while the Trion Bulldogs will take on arch-rival Gordon Lee in one of Northwest Georgia’s longstanding rivalry games.

Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

WZQZ will provide coverage of both games live on the WZQZ Facebook Page, giving fans the opportunity to follow their favorite local team even if they can’t make it to the stadium.

Radio listeners can tune in to WZQZ 99.1 FM for live coverage of the Trion Bulldogs vs. Gordon Lee matchup.

The Trion-Gordon Lee rivalry has long been one of the most anticipated games on the local high school football calendar, while Chattooga will have the advantage of playing in front of the home crowd as the Indians welcome LaFayette to Summerville.

Whether you’re in the stands, watching on Facebook or listening on 99.1 FM, WZQZ will have local football covered Friday night.

WZQZ Announces 2026 High School Football Broadcast Schedule

WZQZ 99.1 FM and AM 1180 will once again be the home for local high school football this fall, with coverage of the Chattooga Indians and Trion Bulldogs throughout the 2026 season.

The broadcast schedule features games involving both local teams, with selected contests airing on the radio and the WZQZ Facebook Page, while additional games will be available exclusively through the WZQZ Facebook Page.

The regular-season coverage gets underway Friday, August 21, with Chattooga hosting LaFayette and Trion taking on Gordon Lee.

Throughout the season, WZQZ will follow the Indians and Bulldogs at home and on the road.

Chattooga Indians Schedule

Chattooga’s schedule includes LaFayette on August 21, an open date August 28, Model on September 4, a road trip to Coosa on September 11 and a road game at Ridgeland on September 18.

The Indians will host Gordon Lee on September 25 and Gordon Central on October 2 before an open date October 9.

Chattooga will host Dade County on October 16, travel to LFO on October 23 and Fannin County on October 30, before closing the regular season on the road against Christian Heritage on November 6.

Trion Bulldogs Schedule

Trion opens against Gordon Lee on August 21 before hosting Model on August 28.

The Bulldogs travel to Ridgeland on September 4 and Dade County on September 11 before hosting LFO on September 18.

Trion travels to Northview on September 25, has an open date October 2, and travels to Greenville on October 9 and Bowdon on October 16.

The Bulldogs host Manchester on October 23, have an open date October 30 and close the regular season by hosting BEST Academy on November 6.

WZQZ will also be ready for postseason action, with playoff coverage to be determined beginning November 13.

Trion, Chattooga Meet Tonight In Annual Preseason Football Scrimmage

High school football returns to Chattooga County tonight as the Trion Bulldogs and Chattooga Indians square off in their 2026 preseason scrimmage.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday, August 14, at Chattooga High School in Summerville.

The annual preseason matchup gives both programs an opportunity to see their players in game conditions before the 2026 regular season gets underway. Coaches will have a chance to evaluate returning starters, younger players stepping into larger roles and newcomers competing for positions as both teams make their final preparations for games that count.

While the final score may not carry regular-season implications, the meeting between the county’s two high school football programs always brings plenty of local interest. For players and coaches, Friday night’s scrimmage provides a valuable measuring stick after weeks of summer workouts and preseason practices.

For fans, it’s the first opportunity of the fall to see the Bulldogs and Indians under the Friday night lights and get an early look at what both teams will bring to the field during the 2026 campaign.

Trion High School Reserved Seats and Season Tickets Go on Sale August 10

Trion High School will begin selling reserved seats and season tickets for the upcoming football season on Monday, August 10.

From Monday through Wednesday, August 10–12, fans who purchased reserved seats last season will have the first opportunity to buy those same seats for the new season.

The cost is $110, which includes both the reserved seat and a season ticket.

Beginning Thursday, August 13, first-time purchasers may buy any reserved seats that remain available.

Fans who do not need a reserved seat may purchase a season ticket for $50.

Chattooga Football Mattress Fundraiser Set For Saturday At Chattooga High School

Support the Chattooga County High School football program while shopping for a new mattress during a special one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, July 25.

The sale will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Chattooga High School Main Gym. Organizers say more than 25 mattress styles will be available to try, with sizes ranging from twin to king from brands including Purple, Therapedic, Southerland, Corsicana, Tranquility and PureCare.

Adjustable bases, luxury pillows and mattress protectors will also be available. Delivery, financing and full factory warranties are offered, and all forms of payment will be accepted.

Every purchase benefits the Chattooga County High School football program, making it an opportunity to support local student-athletes while saving on a new mattress.

Chattooga High School Football Program Seeking Business Ads and Player Dedications

Local businesses, families, and supporters of Chattooga High School Football have an opportunity to be part of the 2026 football program while helping support the Indians during the upcoming season.

Businesses can purchase advertising space in the full-color football program, with options including a full-page ad for $125, a half-page ad for $75, a quarter-page ad for $40, or a business card-sized ad for $25. Businesses may submit a ready-made advertisement or provide text and photos for the Computer Science Club to design. A $10 design fee applies for ads requiring layout assistance. The deadline for business advertisements is Friday, July 17.

Families and friends can also recognize student-athletes by purchasing a dedication in the football program. Dedications are available at the same pricing levels—full page, half page, quarter page, and business card size—and may include photos and personalized messages. The deadline for student-athlete dedications is Saturday, July 11.
