More Than 100 Dogs Vaccinated At Chattooga County Clinic

More than 100 dogs in Chattooga County recently received preventative veterinary care through a community vaccine clinic organized by the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia in partnership with Chattooga County Animal Control.

According to the Humane Society, 106 local dogs were vaccinated during the clinic, helping protect pets and the wider community from preventable diseases.

The event was made possible in part through support from the Banfield Foundation. A Community Care Grant from the foundation covered the direct costs of the vaccines and treatments provided during the clinic.

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia thanked Chattooga County Animal Control, volunteers and local pet owners for helping make the clinic a success.

Organizers said the strong turnout highlighted both the demand for affordable preventative care and the value of partnerships between animal welfare groups and local agencies.

The Humane Society said efforts like the vaccine clinic are aimed at keeping pets healthier while also improving overall public safety and animal welfare in the community.

Pet owners in Chattooga County have an opportunity to receive financial assistance for spay and neuter surgeries through a partnership between Animal Advocates of Chattooga County and My Kids Have Paws Veterinary Clinic.

The program helps cover a portion of the cost of spay or neuter surgery and a rabies vaccination for dogs and cats owned by Chattooga County residents. Surgeries will be performed at My Kids Have Paws Veterinary Clinic, located at 169 Waterfront Way in Dalton.

Pet owners must contact the veterinary clinic directly to schedule an appointment. Animal Advocates of Chattooga County is not able to schedule appointments.

A $40 deposit per pet is required when scheduling. Twenty dollars of that deposit will be refunded when the owner arrives for the appointment. Owners are responsible for any additional veterinary services their pet may need.

The program is limited to 10 pets per household and is available while funding lasts. If a pet is pregnant, owners are asked to notify the clinic when scheduling.

Pet owners in Chattooga County will have an opportunity to protect their animals at no cost during an upcoming free vaccination and microchipping event.

The event is scheduled for Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tractor Supply, located at 11788 Highway 27 in Summerville.

Organizers say the clinic will offer rabies vaccines for dogs and cats, DHPP vaccines for dogs, FVRCP vaccines for cats, and microchipping services.

The event is being held for dogs and cats belonging to Chattooga County residents and is sponsored by the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia in partnership with the Chattooga County Animal Shelter.

All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in a crate.

Officials say the event is a great opportunity for pet owners to ensure their animals are up to date on vaccinations and properly identified.
