The Summerville Police Department is investigating an assault that reportedly occurred at a convenience store and involved a woman being pushed and punched by her boyfriend.
The Summerville Police Department is investigating a financial transaction card fraud case after a Dalton woman reported unauthorized purchases made using her debit card information.
According to the incident report, the victim discovered several unauthorized transactions had been made using information from her food stamp debit card. The purchases reportedly occurred at multiple locations, including Ingles Supermarket in Summerville.
The victim told police she still had possession of the physical card but believed someone had obtained the information needed to make purchases without authorization. She has been working with law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions where transactions were reported in an effort to identify and prosecute the suspect.
Police identified a suspect in the case as 27-year-old Nius Morton of Dalton. The report indicates the offense is being investigated as financial transaction card fraud.
The fraudulent transaction reported in Summerville totaled approximately $29.43. Evidence collected in the case included information associated with the victim’s card.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Summerville Police Department is investigating an incident in which a dog was shot and later died from its injuries following a dispute between two Chattooga County residents.
Two men have been arrested on felony theft charges after allegedly stealing tractors and a trailer from TYM North America’s facility on Cedartown Highway in Rome.
According to arrest warrants, 51-year-old Jason Matthew Stewart of Cave Spring and 58-year-old Travis Leslie Patterson of Rome are accused of taking two tractors and a trailer from the facility on May 20.
Authorities said each tractor was valued at $15,000, while the trailer was valued at $1,500.
TYM North America’s Rome operation is part of the company’s agricultural equipment manufacturing and assembly network. The Cedartown Highway facility was previously associated with Branson Tractors before TYM expanded its North American operations, including a multi-million-dollar investment in the Rome location.
Both men were charged with felony theft by taking.
A Summerville woman was charged with disorderly conduct following a domestic disturbance investigation on Fourth Street, according to the Summerville Police Department.
A Summerville man has reported that dozens of tires were illegally dumped on a vacant property belonging to his late father.
According to a report filed by the Summerville Police Department, Jeff McCary told officers he received a letter from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources regarding an excessive number of tires located on property at 585 Maple Drive in Summerville. After receiving the notice, McCary visited the property and discovered what he described as abandoned tires that had been dumped on the site.
McCary told police he had no prior knowledge of the tires and did not authorize anyone to leave them on the property. He also advised officers that he has no knowledge of his late father authorizing anyone to dump tires there. According to the report, the property has been vacant for approximately five years.
The incident was classified by the Summerville Police Department as abandoned property. No suspects were identified in the report, and the case remains under investigation.

The Summerville Police Department says a six-year-old child found a loaded firearm on a playground at Summerville Gardens.
According to an incident report, Officer Matt Kinnamon was dispatched to 127 Summerville Gardens on May 14 after maintenance technician Adam Gill reported the discovery. Gill told police the child found the firearm and brought it to him.
Gill unloaded the gun, removed the magazine, and reported the incident. Police said the firearm was checked through dispatch and was confirmed not to be stolen.
Officer Kinnamon collected the firearm and placed it into evidence for safekeeping.
A Summerville woman was jailed in Rome after reports said she harassed staff at Atrium Health Floyd.
According to Floyd County Jail records, 43-year-old Treva Misuni Wiggins of Summerville was taken into custody after allegedly contacting the hospital despite previously being banned from the facility.
Reports stated that Wiggins had been informed that Atrium Health Floyd would no longer provide her treatment. Despite that notice, authorities said she allegedly continued to contact the hospital, leading to the charge.
Wiggins was charged with harassing communications.
