A July traffic stop in Chattooga County resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old woman after a deputy reported finding suspected drugs and drug-related items inside her vehicle.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Katherine M. Swafford was arrested July 30 after Deputy Jerec Roberts initiated a traffic stop on Highway 27 toward Summerville.

The report states that the deputy noticed a green Honda CR-V traveling southbound and determined through a check of the vehicle’s license plate that it reportedly had no valid insurance.

During the traffic stop, the deputy learned that Swafford’s driver’s license was suspended. According to the report, she told the deputy she did not have insurance on the vehicle.

While conducting an inventory search before the vehicle was towed, deputies reported finding a round white pill marked “2355 V” inside the center console. The report states the pill was identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate, a Schedule II controlled substance.

The deputy also reported finding a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with a broken glass pipe containing residue.

Swafford was arrested and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.

The report lists charges including possession of a Schedule V drug, driving without a license, possession of drug-related objects, driving without insurance and failure to maintain lane.
