Northwest Georgia is in for a notably mild stretch to start the workweek, with temperatures running 10 to 25 degrees above average across the region.
Forecasters say today’s weather stays mostly quiet for Chattooga County and surrounding Northwest Georgia communities, with highs reaching the low 60s and cloud cover lingering in some areas. While a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for portions of eastern North Georgia this morning, it is not focused on Northwest Georgia. Even so, patchy fog can still develop in pockets, and drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute.
By Monday night, temperatures won’t drop much—lows only in the mid 40s—followed by another warm day Tuesday with highs climbing into the upper 60s. Winds remain generally light, and no widespread rainfall is expected through Tuesday evening.
Looking ahead, a few spotty showers could pop up midweek as a weak disturbance brushes the region, though forecasters note the forcing appears limited and activity would likely be isolated.
The bigger item on the horizon comes late week (Friday–Saturday) as the overall pattern shifts and a stronger system approaches. While details remain uncertain this far out, meteorologists say the setup could support thunderstorms and possibly a severe weather concern—a “winter-style” system where timing and strength will matter. If the front moves through during the day, the severe potential could be higher. Residents are encouraged to stay alert for updated forecasts as confidence improves.
