An Alberta Clipper brought a bit of snowfall to Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama on Monday evening which resulted in some hazardous travel conditions. This morning, roads could remain slick and motorists are being cautioned to look out for black ice and slick conditions, especially on secondary roads and bridges and overpasses. Chattooga County EMA says that the Georgia DOT and Chattooga County Public Works were notified about the conditions. In neighboring Floyd County, Georgia there were several roads closed on Monday night due to icy conditions. In neighboring DeKalb County, Alabama, all roads were closed on Monday night. DeKalb County officials said this morning that road conditions have improved, but are recommending no travel until later this morning. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing before noon today which will take care of any travel issues.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Trion United Methodist Church for former State Representative and local attorney Tim Perry.
