Mrs. Tara Terrell – Pennamon, Obit (W)

MRS. TARA TERRELL – PENNAMON – Age 52, of Rome, Ga and formerly of Summerville, Ga passed away Thursday August 25, 2022. She was born July 22 1970. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Matthew Smith, Jr. and Ora Mae Shropshire; parents, Harry and Joan Terrell and brother, Ramon Pollard.

Survivors are her loving and devoted family, husband Corey Pennamon of Rome, Ga; children Camion( Terrance) Allen, Vaneicia Newsome ( Ervin Torres), Te’nace Newsome, Lacorya Hernandez, Kelsey Bedford, and Giauna Mullins; grandchildren; Liliana and Masen Ledesma, Heaven and Camren Allen, Kelsey “KB” and Teagan Bedford; siblings; Dorcus (Marion) McCrary, Duncan Shropshire, and Valerio Pollard; a loving step- father Carl Blythe; aunt, Ardella “Susie” Shropshire; loving mother-in-law, Mary McMutry-Pennamon, and a loving brother-in-law Bryant Pennamon. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 2:00 P. M. at Willis Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.

Friday Night Football: Chattooga Falls 44-19 To Temple Tigers

The Chattooga Indians fell to 0-2 on the season after falling to the Temple Tigers 44-19 on Friday night.  The Trion Bulldogs were off Friday night.  Both teams will return to action next week.  Trion will play their first home game of the season next week against Gordon Central.  The Chattooga Indians will play their 3rd straight home game against Coahulla Creek.

Revival At Four Mile Baptist Church September 19th Through 21st

The Four Mile Baptist Church will be having revival services Monday through Wednesday September 19th through the 21st.  Services will begin at 7pm nightly.  Brother Larry Weaver will be preaching and there will be a special singing each night.  The church is located at 2755 Wildlife Lake Road just off Highway 100 in Summerville.  The pastor, Brother Joel Smith, invites everyone to attend.

Homecoming At Four Mile Baptist Church Sunday September 18th

Four Mile Baptist Church will be having their Homecoming services on Sunday September 18th at 10:30am.  The Living Faith Quartet will be singing.  The church is located at 2755 Wildlife Lake Road just off Highway 100 in Summerville.

Chattooga Looking For First Win Tonight Against Temple

The Chattooga Indians had an extra week to work on what went wrong in their season opening loss to Lafayette two weeks ago 42-12.  The Indians enjoyed a bye week last week and look to get back on track tonight at home against the Temple Tigers.  Temple is 1-1 on the season and will make the long drive north to Summerville.  They defeated Pike County 41-18 in week 1 and lost at home last week to Christian Heritage 21-6.

Barry Peppers and Paul Cavin will call the game tonight for WZQZ.  The pregame show will start at around 7pm with kickoff to follow at 7:30.  The game will also be live video streamed on the WZQZ Facebook page.

The Trion Bulldogs have a bye week this week and will play their first home game of the season next week against Gordon Central.

Ms. Barbara Jean Cline, Obit (M)

Ms. Barbara Jean Cline, age 83, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at her residence.

Ms. Cline was born February 23, 1939, in Calhoun, GA, daughter of the late Robert Olen and Verna Mae Pendley Cline. She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the Chattooga County and Trion City School Systems.

Early on, she was a devoted mother to four daughters, coaching ball teams and leading their Girl Scout Troops. Her hobbies included collecting antiques, basket weaving, and gardening. Ms. Cline loved traveling and toured Europe and all throughout the United States numerous times. She later doted on her grandchildren and loved tending to her flowers and courtyard. She became a loyal member of the Chattooga County Senior Center and enjoyed participating in the Silver Sneakers and playing Rook with friends.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Cline was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Eller; a sister, Sue Holbert; and brother, Charles Cline.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra (John) Voight, Rhonda (Phil) Williams, and Ericka (Stacy) Young; grandchildren, Amber Hudgins, Jason Eller, Michael Eller, Amanda Parrot, Jarrod Broome, Logan Broome, Rhett Tucker, and Erin Tucker; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 4, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Eulogist Phil Williams officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Lumpkin, John Voight, Jarrod Broome, Logan Broome, Rhett Tucker, and Grayson Justice. Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of the Chattooga Senior Center and the ladies from her card parties.

Ms. Cline will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Sunday.

Mr. Billy Ray Clark, Sr., Obit (C)

Mr. Billy Ray Clark, Sr. age 78 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Clark was born in Trion, Georgia on July 18, 1944, son of the late Joseph Hill Clark and Sarah Katherine Wright Clark. He was a member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Cedar Bluff and was retired from Reichold Chemical Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Watkins and a great granddaughter, Rena Flood.  Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Kay Clark; daughters and son-in-law, Tina and Wayne Flood, Linda Newton and Elaine Lindsey; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Connie Clark and Dwayne and Lacy Clark; brother, Louis Clark; 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Clark will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Collins officiating.

Mr. Clark will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Billy Joe Young, Obit (M)

Mr. Billy Joe Young, age 83, of Lyerly, GA, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Crowne Health Care of Fort Payne.

Mr. Young was born January 21, 1939, in Berryton, GA, son of the late Samuel “Sam” Young and Dossie Parker Young. He was a member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rachel Young McNair, Herman Collins Young, Luther Aubrey Young, and Harold Edward Young.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Teague Young; daughter, Sheila Young Mount; son Billy Michael Young; brother, John Kelly Young; grandchildren, Crystal Weaver, Sharon Weaver, Dakota Young (Nikki Crabtree), and Destinee Young (Tyler Bell); and a great-grandchild, Hayzlee Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Antoney Patterson officiating. The casket will be escorted by granddaughters, Crystal Weaver, Sharon Weaver, and Destinee Young.

Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dakota Young, Tyler Bell, David Pittman, James Pittman, Lee McKeehan, and Brandon Pittman.
