Summerville Main Street will host a Trains & Tracks Expo at the Historic Summerville Depot on Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16. A Welcome Hill Road, Trion man called the sheriff’s office this week to report being harassed by a neighbor.  A responding deputy spoke with Steven Cline who said he was walking to his residence when a neighbor began threatening and harassing him.  The complainant said that the harassment had been going on for some time.  Cline also told the deputy that the same neighbor had taken a friend’s vehicle from the yard of Cline’s house without permission.  The deputy advised Mr. Cline on magistrate court proceedings.

The GBI has arrested and charged Gregory Jarrod Allen, 41, of Cartersville, Bartow, Georgia, with Sexual Assault by a Person w/Supervisory/Disciplinary Authority and Violation of Oath. On September 20, 2022, the Bartow County Sherriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations in reference to a jail employee having a sexual relationship with an inmate.

The number of COVID-19 cases reported in Chattooga County was down slightly since last week to eighteen, according to the latest numbers released on Wednesday from the Georgia Department of Public Health. Last week their were twenty COVID-19 cases reported, which was a jump from zero cases the week before.   According to this week’s numbers, there have been 33,587 deaths statewide from the virus and 6,861 probable cases.  The Georgia Department of Public Health has also updated the vaccination rate numbers.  Currently, 45% of Chattooga County residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine and 39% have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Summerville Police were called to a Kelly Street residence on Tuesday of this week after a woman found oil on the front steps of a house she was cleaning.  The complainant told police that she had come to the house to clean and as she prepared to leave, she found oil poured on the steps of the house.  The woman said that she believes the oil was put there intentionally and that it was done to cause her physical harm.  The complainant asked that a report be on file at the Summerville Police Department.

To further advance the Transform 285/400 Interchange reconstruction project to final completion, the contractor for the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is anticipated to close one Interstate 285 westbound lane on Saturday, Oct. 22 between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Roswell Road. One I-285 eastbound lane closed on Saturday, Oct. 8 and will remain closed.
