A Georgia judge has halted efforts by a suburban Atlanta prosecutor to enforce a ban on some cannabis extracts, in a case that could set a statewide precedent.
Last week, the Chattooga County Board of Education voted to adopt a four-day calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The move was an about face from four years ago, when the local board of education was composed of different members who were swept into office following the ouster of several longtime board members in the 2018 election.

A man and his girlfriend came to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office recently with a harassment complaint. According to the couple, the man’s former wife had been sending threatening messages to the couple via social media. The couple said that in addition to the Facebook and Instagram messages, the ex-wife had started to text the threats to the couple’s cell phones. The deputy advised the man that he would need to contact officials in Walker County where he lives and filed a report for the man’s girlfriend. The deputy also advised the couple to get a Temporary Protective Order.
The City of Summerville is grappling with the decision on who will get a license to sell packaged liquor. Currently, the city’s ordinance calls for a lottery system, but some council members are not happy with that idea.

A Packer Dairy Road man was jailed this past week after a traffic stop on Edmundson Street in Summerville. According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle driven by sixty-four-year-old John Jeffery Wade due to the fact that he was failing to maintain a single lane in the 2007 Ford Focus he was driving. The officer discovered that Wade was driving on suspended or revoked license and also cited him for defective equipment. Wade was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on the charges.
