MR. SAMMY VICTOR HAMBY, SR., age 73, of Dowdy Drive, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Sunday in a LaFayette health care. A native of Trion, Georgia, Sammy was born to the late Frank and Hattie Forshee Hamby on June 29, 1948. He was retired from the construction industry and was preceded in death by wife, Ruth Matney Hamby.

Funeral services are set for this week for a Hays State Prison Chaplain who died in a tragic one-vehicle accident in Chattooga County.
A man was arrested in Floyd County Saturday after police say he traveled from his home in South Carolina to meet someone he thought was a child for sex. Another man from East Dublin, Georgia was also arrested in a separate incident.
