Earlier this month, Governor Kemp announced broadband grant funding for communities across the State of Georgia. Four grants were awarded to communities and organizations in the four-county area of the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority, with over $15 million in funding received and a projected 7,797 new sites to be served via these projects.
Unfortunately, the Boil Water advisory is still in place for Menlo Water Customers. The City of Menlo told WZQZ News, “The water table is still high. There is a risk of possible contamination in our auquafior. The water in the distribution system is within permit. Per the EPD we are instructed to leave on boil advisory for now as a precaution.” This means the Menlo Restaurant is still closed. WZQZ will let you know when the boil water advisory is lifted.
There’s Hope for the Hungry will give away free boxes of groceries this Thursday, February 10 from 10: am until 1:00 pm at the Central Avenue Baptist Church in Trion. No ID is required. Everyone is welcome to come.

Authorities in neighboring DeKalb County, Alabama have arrested a Valley Head man and charged him with sexual abuse of a child after they say the thirty-seven-year-old had inappropriate contact with a minor.
Georgia gas prices increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.24 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 4 cents more than a week ago, 13 cents more than last month, and 96 cents more than this time last year.
