Tax Commissioner Reminds Mobile Home Owners Taxes Due April 1

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is reminding all mobile home owners in Chattooga County that mobile home taxes are due on April 1, 2022.  Mobile home taxes are not collected in December like property taxes.  Hampton says that the notices that the taxes are due went out in the mail, and you should have received your notice by now.  If you haven’t received your mobile home tax notice, you should contact the Chattooga County Tax Commissioner’s office.  All mobile homes are assessed a tax in Chattooga County; including mobile homes that are used for storage.

Sheriff Says Use Caution Traveling

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News that there are no road issues in the valley, but mountain roads are slick. The sherrif says that the Chattooga side of Highway157 at Cloudland is slick but passable. The Walker County side is worse. If temperatures fall tonight as predicted, there could be slick roads in the valley as well. Be especially careful on bridges and secondary roads. WZQZ will begin updates tomorrow morning at 5 AM. NWS Warns Of Black Ice Overnight And Monday Morning

Black ice will be the major threat into the overnight hours tonight and Monday morning.  The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement this afternoon warning motorists about the possibility of frozen roadways.  Georgia DOT and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office are asking everyone that doesn’t have to travel to stay home today and tonight.  See the complete weather statement below:

Georgia Power is reporting more power outages this morning.  A power outage on Sloppy Floyd Lake Road is affecting about 92 homes.  Georgia Power says that outage is expected to be restored around 10:45 AM:
