Mr. Richard Lewis Helms

Mr. Richard Lewis Helms, age 56, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday March 25, 2011. Mr. Helms was born Jan. 18, 1955, in Trion, GA, the son of Bobby Long Helms and the late Margie Ledford Helms. He was a self-employed painter, veteran of the U.S. Airforce having served in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Ledford Helms, sister, Mary Elaine Witt, twin brothers, Johnny and Donnie Helms, a granddaughter, Cassy Crider. Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law, Cristie Nicole and Casey Crider, father, Bobby L. Helms, granddaughter, Ashlyn Crider, brother, Stephen R. Helms, brother-in-law, Gary Witt, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday March 27, 2011 from the Central Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. John Leatherwood and Bro. Terry Shores officiating. Honorary pallbearers, David Herrin, Mike Helms, David Helms, Jimmy McGraw, Eddie Helms, Jeff Helms, Gary Witt, Carlon Cargle, and the Sons of American Legion.

The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Skelton Obit

Mr. Jerry Wayne Skelton, Sr, age 66, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at Redmond Medical Center. Mr. Skelton was born in Birmingham, AL on January 1, 1945, son of the late Chester Herdis Sr & Anna Elizabeth Rice Skelton. He was self-employed and a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the American Legion Post 129, Grandnoble of the Odd Fellows Unity Lodge #3 and enjoyed coaching recreation league baseball.

Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine V. Thomas. Mr. Skelton is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Bennett Skelton, sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Wayne “Bug” and Amber Skelton, Jon and Jennifer Skelton, daughter and son-in-law, Tammie & David Greene, brother& sister-in-law C.H. “Herb” & Cindy Skelton, grandchildren, Kenzlee Skelton, Sarah Skelton, Jerryn Skelton, Josie Skelton, Jayleigh Skelton, nieces, Kathy Ray, Suzanne Pauley, nephew, Trey Skelton.

Funeral Services for Mr. Skelton will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Don Knowles officiating. Interment will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trey Skelton, Jody Stoner, Casey Veatch, Race Allen, Rickey Moore, David Lindsey, David Greene, Jr., & John W. Mrs Martha Sue Hensley Obit

MS. MARTHA SUE HENSLEY, age 72, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2011, in a Rome hospital. A daughter of the late Sam and Lois Golden Westbrook, Ms. Hensley was born September 10, 1938, was Baptist by faith and retired from Mohawk Industries and Walmart. Ms. Hensley was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Westbrook and Freddie Westbrook.

Survivors include one Son and Daughter-in-law, David and Doris Wilson of Menlo; Two Brothers, Dartey Westbrook of Trion, and Phillip Westbrook of Armuchee. Grandchildren, April and Morgan Laney of Trion; Charlie Wilson of Summerville; Great Grandchildren, Austen, Joshua and Landon Wilson; Chandlar, Skylar, Brent and Ashton Laney; Former husband Charles Hensley of Trion.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m from West Hill Cemetery with James Westbrook officiating. Active Pallbearers will be O.J. Ford, Dylan Ford, Butch Cordle, Butch E Cordle, Sammy Westbrook, and Bobby Westbrook.  Honorary pallbearers will be Friends of Walmart. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilma Lively Hunter Obit

Mrs. Wilma Lively Hunter age 82 of raymond Street Summerville passed away Wednesday morning at her residence.  A native Chattooga Countian, she was born to the late Roy and Ethel Roberts Burke on April 22nd 1928…Ms. Wilma was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, and was retired clerk for Golden Gallon, and was preceded in death by husbans Ray Lively and Ed Bryant, a son Jack Lively, a sister Daisy Ellenburg and stepson David Hunter…

Surviving are husband, Horace Hunter, daughters and husbands, Donna  Hogue of Summerville, Betty and Steve Nelson of Rockwood, TN., Melanie and Dennis Howard of Summerville, son Charles Burke of Summerville , step daughter an husband Linda and Sid Henderson, step son and wife Charles and Brenda Hunter, step son and wife Larry and Diane Hunter all of Summerville, brother Charles burke of Silvania , AL., 24 Grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive…Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mrs. Angelita Tremaine Evans

Ms. Angelita Tremaine Evans, age 51, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday March 18, 2011. She was born Feburary 18, 1960, in Chattooga County GA, the daughter of Alvin Evans and Mildred Foster Jones. She graduated from CHS, was employed with the Roper Corp. for 11 years until departure due to health. Angelita was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her father, Alvin Evans, mother, Mildred (Ivory) Jones, daughters, Constance & (Maurice) Daniel, Zoe White, sister, Cecelia & (Senorise) Perry, Sr., brothers, Stacey & (Deborah) Evans, Beck Evans, Juan Evans, grandson, Myles Daniel, a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. MS. SUSIE BACHELOR, age 55, of Bankson Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, Mach 20, 2011, in a Rome hospital. Ms. Bachelor was born in Floyd County, Georgia on November 5, 1957 a daughter of the late Archie Lee and Anna Lee Howell Pollard. She formerly worked in the assembly line at Roper Corporation.

Survivors include-sons-Joe Bachelor of Trion and Justin Bachelor of Summerville; grandchildren-Zane Bachelor, Carter Bachelor, Amber Bachelor, Abbie Wells, and Emily Bachelor; several loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor John Leatherwood and Joe Bachelor officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Mrs. Mildred Grace Ingle, age 83, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Monday March 21, 2011 in Dekalb Hospital. Mrs. Ingle was born September 17, 1927, in Cherokee County Alabama, the daughter of the late Judson and Hester Stancil Brown. She was a home maker and a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church #1.

Survivors include her husband to whom she was married for over 65 years, Albert Ingle, son, Gwynne Ingle, daughter, Rebecca Whisenant, grandchidlren, Kristy Cash, Monica Whisenant, Trent Whisenant, great-grandchild, Carol Ann Cash, sisters, Ann Wood, Pat Harris, Darthene Phillips, brothers, Gerald Brown, Sammy Brown, Dennis Brown, and serveral nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 23, 2011, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Berry, and Rev. George Moses officiating with interment in the Moseley Cemetery. Mrs.Susan Gayleen Parish

Mrs. Susan Gayleen Croft Parish, age 52 of Trion, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Cartersville Medical Center.

Mrs. Parish was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on June 3, 1958, daughter of Gaynell Ferguson Burke and the late Ollie Ray Croft. She was of the Baptist faith and was employed in the Finishing Lab at Mt. Vernon Mills for over 27 years. Mrs. Parish was a member of the Quarter Century Club and a recipient of the Z.D. Award.

Mrs. Parish is survived by her husband, Lloyd Parish of Trion; children, Justin Anthony Parish of Sylvania, AL and Gayla Marie Parish of Trion; mother and step-father, Gaynell and Charles Burke; brothers, Earl Croft of Pennville, Naol Croft of Sylvania, AL, and Darrell Croft of Trion; mother-in-law, Phyllis Parish; 7 grandchildren, Kamden, Lexi, Kaitlyn and Gabby Parish, Joshua, Landon and Ayden Wilson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Parish will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity “Burnt Church” Cemetery.

Mrs. Doris Mildred Raughton

Mrs. Doris Mildred Raughton, age 84, of Summerville, GA died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Raughton was born December 24, 1926 in Dekalb County, AL, the daughter of the late Noah Franklin and Liza Jane Bowman Burnett. Mrs. Raughton was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. J. Raughton.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roanld and Rita Raughton, Dalton, GA, and Edwin Raughton, Summerville, GA; daughter and sons-in-law, Jill and Jim Smith, Summerville, GA, Barbara and James Dover, Trion, GA, and Alesia and James Stitt, Fort Valley, GA; sister, Dora Kunzel, PA; brothers, Junior Burnett, Newnan, GA, and Leonard Burnett, Summerville, GA; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren.
