Mr. James Pierson Tingle

Mr. James Pierson Tingle, age 60, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Tingle was born March 8, 1951 in New Brunwick, NJ, the son of the late James Melvin and Sarah Bailey Tingle. He was a carpenter with Brewster Construction. Mr. Tingle was a devoted member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church where he served as an usher, a Sunday School Teacher , and Brotherhood Director. Mr. Tingle was a veteran of the United States Marines.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Brewster; stepson, Joey Brewster, granddaughter, Kelsea Brewster; brother, Michael Tingle; sisters and brother-in-law, Susan & Peter Moser, Dee Antos, and Beverly Schmoyer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Richard Echols; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Perennial Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in Perennial Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dewey Brewster, John Ware, Greg Hurley, Garrett Hurley, Blake Chisolm, and Jacob Pledger. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Perennial Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Tingle will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, March 19, 2011. He will also lie in state at the church from 1:30 until the service hour on Sunday.

Mrs. Nora Lee VanPelt Hartline

Mrs. Nora Lee Lewis VanPelt Hartline, age 92, of Gaylesville, AL died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Mrs. Hartline was born February 19, 1919 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late Lucian and Lizzie Crye Lewis. Mrs. Hartline was retired from Gaylesville School Lunch Room. She was a member of the Blanche United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Sarah Lee Smith and husband, Maurice Smith, Gayle Johnson and husband, Jimmy Johnson, Dow VanPelt and wife, Barbara VanPelt, Lewis VanPelt and wife, Christy VanPelt; grandchildren, Mike Smith, Mark Smith, Lee Smith, Sarah Lynn Thompson, John Dow VanPelt, Jim VanPelt, Daniel Johnson, and Hope Deal; and great grandchildren, Patrick Smith, Matthew Smith, Blake Smith, Andrew Smith, Savannah Smith, Paul VanPelt, Katlyn VanPelt, Ross VanPelt, Hannah VanPelt, Coleton Johnson, Conner Thompson, Macayne Thompson, and Andreah Deering.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. (EST) Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Randall Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Lee Smith, John Dow VanPelt, Jim VanPelt, Daniel Johnson, and Pat Thompson.

Mr. William D. Elrod Obit

MR. WILLIAM D. ELROD, age 55, of Fayetteville, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon in a Rome hospital following a sudden illness. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia He was born on July 29, 1955, and was the only child of the late Ralph W. and Ada Margaret Duff Elrod. Mr. Elrod was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia and a real estate agent for the ERA Sunrise Group.

Surviving are wife-Martha McCrorey Elrod; daughter-Kimber Elrod of Jasper, GA.; son-Brandon Elrod of Rome; step daughter-Stacie Edwards of Madison, Ga.; step sons-Todd Edwards of Athens, Ga. and Ryan Edwards of Fayetteville; grandsons-Sawyer Edwards and Hudson Edwards.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 20th, at 4:00 P.M. from the New Hope Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Georgia. Mr. Tony London 83 of Summerville passed away Saturday March 12th at Shepard Hills Health Care.  He was a member of New hope United Methodist church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Earlene Young London, his son Mr. Tony Dumaurier London.  Mr. London was a Veteran of the United States Army.. Mrs. Gladys Pauline Brown Thomas

MRS. GLADYS PAULINE BROWN THOMAS age 93 of Trion died Tuesday March 15, 2011. She was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Ann Sosebee. Survived by a daughter Georgia Mae Adams, Trion, sons Rubin Ray Sosebee, Allen M. Sosebee both of Trion, Kenneth R. Sosebee, Cleveland, TN, Robert W. Thomas, Jr. Trion, sisters Mamie Parker, Trion, Grace Houser, AL, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral from Ridgeway Baptist Church Thursday at 11:00 A. M. Service conducted by Dr. Robert Patterson. Mr. Robert Price Obit

Mr. Robert Dairl Price, age 90, of Trion, GA died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Price was born July 10, 1920 in Trion, GA the son of the late Jack and Sarah Roach Price. He was retired from Ford Motor Company. Mr. Price was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII in Europe, Germany, France, and Belgium. He served as Civil Defense Director for 25 years. Mr. Price was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Catherine Townsend Price.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Marty Price.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Norton and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at West Hill Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard providing full military honors.

Mrs.Patsy Charlotte Weevie obit

Mrs. Patsy Charlotte Weevie, age 70, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at
Hutcheson Medical Center.
Mrs. Weevie was born January 29, 1941 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Albert and
Fannie Belle Posey Railey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seven Day Advent.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Weevie was preceded in death by a step-mother, Eunice Railey;
and a son, Joseph Weevie.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan B. Weevie, son, Randy Weevie and Lynn Stark; sister,
Maxine Morgan; nephew and wife, Lonnie and Tonya Smith; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with
Dr. Ed Skoretz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers

Mr. James Robert “Jimmy” Gill Obit

Mr. James Robert "Jimmy" Gill, age 65, of Menlo, GA died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gill was born March 17, 1945 in Presque Isle, Maine, the son of the late James Walter and Katherine Henderson Gill. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Gill was a member and deacon of Chelsea Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Gill; and a sister, Sue Lee.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Gill; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca & Jason Tucker; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Charlotte Gill, and Thomas and Lisa Gill; sisters, Virginia Lively, Carol Young, and Kathy Davis; grandchildren, Arielle, Zachary, and Alexandera Gill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. James Holder, and Rev. Tony Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett Cemetery. Mrs. Diane Imogene Padgett Obit

Mrs. Diane Imogene Padgett, age 52, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Padgett was born June 18, 1958 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of Billy Weaver and the late Audrey Thompson Weaver. She was a homemaker and member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by a son , James Lay.

Survivors include her husband, Hershel Padgett; children, Frank Lay and Penny Teems; father, Billy Weaver; grandchildren, Shelby Teems, Thad Teems, Patience Lay, and Dexter Lay; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Glenda Weaver, Frank & Sherry Weaver.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Teems, Chad Teems, Gary Teems, Tony Blalock, Jeff Phillips, and Larry Weesner.

Ms. Mary L. Patterson Obit

Mary L. Patterson, age 86, of Flora Avenue, Rome, passed away on Saturday evening, March 5th, 2011 at Summit HealthCare of Rome.

A native of Cherokee County, Alabama, Mrs. Patterson was born on October 31st, 1924, the daughter of the late E.J. and Catherine Barkley Lawless. Mrs. Patterson was a resident of Summerville for several years prior to moving to Rome in 1973. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Rome and prior to her retirement she was associated with Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital as a License Practical Nurse. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by a son, Robert William Patterson, Jr. in 1989. She was married on March 1st, 1941 to Rev. Robert William “Bob” Patterson, Sr. who preceded her in death on June 6th, 2005.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Patterson of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Robert W. Patterson, III of Summerville and Alisea Morris of Rome; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive as do a daughter-in-law, Ella Ray Townsend of Summerville, GA.; a special niece, Donna Sentell of Broomtown, Alabama. Other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mary L. Patterson will be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 8th, 2011 at 2 o’clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley’s Funeral Home with the Rev. James Robert Patterson and the Rev. Johnny Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Summerville, Georgia.

Mrs. Patterson will remain at Fred Talley’s Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 1 until 2 o’clock.
