Hilton Obit

Mrs. Nellie Jane Hilton, age 86, a recent resident of Oak View Nursing Home, Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Until recently, she had lived in Murphy, NC with her daughter.

Mrs. Hilton was born November 6, 1922 in White County, GA, the daughter of the late Robert Ramsey Craig and Fannie Mae Dyer Craig. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hilton was preceded in death by a former husband, L. D. Henderson; and her late husband, John Hilton; one brother, Dillard Craig; three sisters, Mozele Craig, Louise Howell, and Jessie Shirley.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bill Rogers, Murphy, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Robert and Louise Helton, Summerville, GA, Jerry and Mary Helton, Lyerly, GA; six grandchildren, Troy Rutledge, Randy Warren, Gene Rogers, Steve Helton, Amy Helton McCleskey, and Scott Helton; 9 Great Grandchildren;11 Great Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Brown and Frances Smith, Summerville, GA; one brother, Watson Craig, Lyerly, GA; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Troy Rutledge, Randy Warren, Steve Helton, Scott Helton, T. J. Rutledge, and Andrew Wilkinson.

Mrs. Hilton will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p. m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009

LuAllen Obit

MR. CHARLES KELLY LuALLEN, age 78, of Marshall Lane, Rome, Georgia, passed away Friday, (April 10, 2009), in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, He was born on February 19, 1931 to the late Willie and Josie Spain LuAllen. Prior to retirement, He worked in the sawmilling industry for a number of years.

Surviving are His wife-Brenda Wright LuAllen; son-Kevin LuAllen; daughters-Jackie LuAllen, Sheila LuAllen, and Skyla LuAllen; four grandchildren-Julie Loveless, Gary Matthews, Jason and Chris Wooten; eight Great Grandchildren; brothers-Larry LuAllen, Robert LuAllen, and LeRoy LuAllen; sisters-Eva Jo Pierce and Linda Pierce all of Summerville; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (April 14, 2009) at 1PM in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, interment in East View Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Hazel Weaver Walker age 78 of Trion went to be with her Lord Saturday April 11, 2009. 

She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Walker, parents Andrew and Bessie Wilbanks Weaver, sister Dora Pfiel, brothers Ralph, Leroy and Phillip Weaver, great grandson Brody Whaley.

Survived by daughters and son-in-law Branda and Harold Helton, Elaine and Buthc Haney, son and daughter-in-law Reece and Ann Weaver, five grandaughters, two great grandaughters, fourt great grandsons, sisters Thelma Stephens, Rising Fawn, Wiladean Cordle, LaFayette, Evelyn Thompson, Trion, Jeanette Rushing, Tupelo, MS., brothers Charles Weaver, Dalton, Jimmy Weaver, Trion, Thomas Weaver, Rossville, Billy Weaver, Palestine, TX several nieces and nephews survive.

Mr. Ralph Emerson Spicer Obituary

 

Mr. Ralph Emerson Spicer, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at The Summit in Rome, GA.

Mr. Spicer was born January 7, 1923 in Deputy, Indiana, the son of the late Samuel and Nettie B. Wolf Spicer. Before retirement, Mr. Spicer was employed in retail sales. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Louise Wooten Spicer.

Survivors include his sons, Donald Spicer, North Vernon, IN, Raymond Spicer, Scipio, IN, Larry D. Phelps, Columbia, IN, Barry Phelps, Summerville, GA. daughters, Kathy Hendricks, Columbus, IN, Beverly Rascoe, Seymour, IN, Sharon Holcomb, Summerville, GA; sister, Betty Burchett, Deputy, IN; 14 Grandchildren; and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Jackson officiating.

Mrs. Rosa Mae White Woods

Mrs. Rosa Mae White Woods, age 88, of Rossville, GA, formerly of Summerville, GA, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at her residence.   Mrs. Woods was born May 1, 1920 in Berryton, GA, the daughter of the late Claude and  Emmie Rich Ponder.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Summerville Church of God.  Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul “Budgie” White;her second husband, Earl Woods; sons, Paul Devon White and Carl James White; brother, Ben Chapman; sisters, Gertha Rowells and Jewell Ponder Ledbetter. Survivors include her daughters and sons-inlaw, Shirley Igou, Jeannie & Pat Moran, Chattanooga, TN, Nelda and Doyle Smith, Trion, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Henderson and Frances Ponder, Summerville, GA; 17 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; members of the Paul “Budgie” White Family, and members of the Earl Woods Family. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p. m. Mrs. Beatrice Joy Carroll, age 50, of Lyerly, GA died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Carroll was born September 8, 1958 in Danville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late H. L. and Doris Gwinn Padgett. She was employed at Menlo School and was a member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church. Mrs. Carroll is survived by her children, Kevin Carroll, Kim Carroll Collins, and Kerri Carroll; sister, Phyllis Marshall; brothers, Ronald Padgett and Hershel Padgett; grandchildren, Trevor Collins and Riley Collins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at Lyerly First Baptist Church with Dr. James Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Mr. Thomas Ballenger, age 80, of Smyrna, passed away April 1, 2009.  Graveside services were held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 10:00am at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park with Minister Richard Barnes officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 117 Perimeter Center West, #E101. Survivors include: wife, Mary Ballenger of Marietta; daughters, Karen Ballenger and Donna Travis, all of Woodstock; sister, Jenny Copeland of Nashville, TN; brother, Ben Ballenger of Summerville; grandsons, Jake and Zach Travis; several nieces and nephews also survive. Castellaw Funeral Home of Smyrna was in charge of services for Mr. Thomas Ballenger.

Mr. Lonnie Laselle Stewart, 69, of Summerville, GA died Saturday, April 4, 2009 athis residence. Mr. Stewart was born September 24, 1939 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the lateLonnie and Laura Finley Stewart.  Prior to retirement, Mr. Stewart was a truck driver.  He enjoyed driving trucks and transporting cars to different cities.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.  Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by a son, Joe Willie Loveless.
Survivors include his children, Marcella E. London, Sheila Stewart, Nekolia Isaac, Brenda Dixon, Gregory Laselle Stewart Shropshire; step-son, Larry Allen; sisters, Laura Knowles andAnnie Mae Glanton; brothers, Earl Finley and Roland Stewart; 13 Grandchildren; and 3Great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Peggy Jane Milton Fuller, age 66 of Bristol, VA, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Fuller was born January 9, 1943, daughter of Bertha Milton and the late Stanley (Pete) Milton. She was a member of the Adoration Church of God and was employed with the Bristol, Virginia Police Department.

Mrs. Fuller is survived by her husband, Max Fuller of Bristol, VA; Mother, Bertha Milton, Bristol, VA; Step-Sons, Stan (Helen) Fuller and George Michael Fuller, Sylacauga, AL and Tal Fuller, Bristol, VA; Brother, Bill Milton (Nancy), Moody, AL; Grandchildren, Lacey Johnston (Scott), Ryan Fuller, Cody Fuller; Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Fuller will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 8:00 P.M. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Asbury and Rev. Jack Stevens officiating. Interment will follow Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Broomtown, AL.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at the Weaver Funeral Home, Bristol, VA.

Sprayberry Obit

Mr. Jerry R. Sprayberry, age 70, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Sprayberry was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on July 3, 1938, son of Leonard W. Sprayberry and the late Zula Mae Headrick Sprayberry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving in Air Operations and as a pilot. Mr. Sprayberry was President of the Chattooga County Historical Society from 1989-1990. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Captain and pilot for 25 years with National Airlines and Pan American World Airways. Mr. Sprayberry was preceded in death by his mother, Zula Sprayberry.

Mr. Sprayberry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Lynn Sprayberry of St. Paul, Minnesota ; daughters and son-in-law, Shari and Dennis Rodriquez of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Cynthia Sprayberry of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Grandchildren, Jessica Maruzzala, Khristina Elswick and Sarah Sprayberry; Great Grandchildren, Cameron Maruzzala, Caleb Maruzzala and Summer Elswick.

Funeral Services for Mr. Sprayberry will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stan Sprayberry, Dennis Rodriguez, Kevin Gallagher, and Sonny Dillard.
