Ms. Pamela Brown Obituary

Ms. Pamela Diane Brown, age 55, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at her residence.

Ms. Brown was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on November 30, 1953, daughter of Nona Lee Wilson Brown and the late George Oliver Brown. She was veteran of the United States Air Force and prior to retirement, was employed as a LPN.

Ms. Brown is survived by her daughter, Kristina Whisenant Romine of Trion; mother, Nona “Dot” Brown of Summerville; brothers, Oliver Brown, Johnny Brown, and Arthur Brown all of Summerville; sister, Marie Rowland of Summerville; and two grandchildren, Sydney Romine and Jaxton Romine of Trion.

Memorial Services for Ms. Brown will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 6:00 P.M.in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Private Interment will follow at a later date.

Ms. Brown’s family will gather and receive friends at the Mason Funeral Home Monday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Ward Obit

Mr. Clayton Eugene Ward, age 84, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Clayton was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on October 12, 1924, son of the late John Howard Ward and Lucy Debter Ward.  He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Ward was self employed as a farmer.Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Thelma Frances Walker Ward; Son Gary “Pinky” Ward; daughter, Patricia Ann Sweatman; sister, Loyce Carter; 5 Grandchildren, Annette Lanham, Tracy Crider, Brad Ward, Dee Shedd, and Michele Copeland; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Jackson, Rev. Larry Scoggins, Rev. Cary Hall and Rev. Ken Jennings officiating.  Interment will follow in the Subligna Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Brad Ward, Britt Copeland, Darryl Crider, Joe Lanham, Bobby

Sizemore Obit

MRS. LILLIE MAE SIZEMORE, age 75, of Back Penn Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday (March 30, 2009) morning at the residence following an extended illness. A native of Ringgold, Georgia She was born to the late Robert Sherman and Delia Mae Vest Weaver on September 26, 1933. Mrs. Sizemore was a Homemaker, Baptist by Faith, and was preceded in death by husband-John Sizemore; two sons-Eddie Sizemore and Mike Sizemore and two sisters-Mary Ruth Osteen and Margaret Weaver.

Surviving are son & daughter-in-law-Robert and Loretta Sizemore of Summerville; daughters and sons-in-law-Johnnie Mae & Freddie Maynor of Trion, Ethel (Dee) & Joe Ledford of Mentone, AL., Eunice & Ted Simmons, Amie & Terry Green, and Lisa Sizemore all of Summerville; Fourteen Grandchildren, fifteen Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren; brothers-Robert Weaver, George Weaver, and William Weaver; sisters-Bessie Sizemore, Millard Farrow, and Virginia Goodson all of Ringgold; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 2, 2009) at 3:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Ken Westmoreland officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Terry, John, and Josh Whitaker, Ty Craig, Blake Sizemore, Matthew Simmons, Dale Fox, and Jason Green. Mr. Randy Shropshire, age 47, of Summerville, GA, passed away March 26, 2009,in Tampa, FL. Mr. Shropshire was born August 5, 1961, in Chattooga County Georgia, the son of Mrs. Emma Stewart Shropshire and the late Randolph J. Shropshire, Sr. He was a member of the Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Lyerly, GA, formerly employed with Riegel Textile Trion, GA, Best Manufacturing in Menlo, GA, and did yard work for people in the community. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Emma Stewart Shropshire, sisters & brothers-in-law, Betty J. & Milton McDaniel, Patrick A. Shropshire, Jeanette & Grimmett Glenn, Michelle Shropshire, brother, Jimmy Ray Shropshire, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday April 1, 2009, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop V.T. Harden officiating with interment in the Lyerly Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, flower bearers will be nieces. Mr. Shropshire will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 1, 2009, until the funeral hour.

 

Dolquery Obit

Mr. Mickey Allen Dolquery, age 74, of Cedar Bluff, Al died Friday, March 27, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Dolquery was born July 19, 1934 in Trion, GA, the son of the late James Clarence and Grace Beatrice Bain Dolquery.  He was self employed in heating and air repair. Mr. Dolquery was a member of the Salem Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy David Dolquery. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Randall Bowman, Terre Haute, Indiana, Sheila and Buddy Warren, Summerville, GA; and several step-children; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bettye Bureta and Gerri & Joseph Lambert; grandchildren, Karen Van Cura, Nicholas Bowman, Marc Smith, Luke Warren, Brook Warren; great grandchildren, Cole Van Cura, Xander Van Cura, Nicholas Smith, Kenndy May Smith, and Benjamin Smith. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p. m.  CST Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at theSalem Methodist Church with Rev. Peek obit

Mr. Harold Lewis Peek, age 81, of Cedar Bluff, AL passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Cherokee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Centre, AL.

Mr. Peek was born in Shawmut, Alabama on September 13, 1927, son of the late Lon and Mildred Cotton Peek. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Auburn University in 1950. Mr. Peek was a member of the Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was Vice President of Manufacturing at the Riegel/Mount Vernon Textile Mill. Mr. Peek was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Peek served on the Trion School Board of Education for 25 years, 23 of those as chairman. He served as president of the Trion-Summerville Rotary Club, Director of the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce, Director of Farmers and Merchants Bank, past member of the Trion First Baptist Church, past chairman of the Chattooga County District of the Boy Scouts of America and Lifetime Honorary Member of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association. Mr. Peek was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Peek and Ralph Peek.

Mr. Peek is survived by his wife, Barbara Adams Peek of Cedar Bluff; son and daughter-in-law, Hal and Leanne Peek of Broomtown, AL; daughter, Sally Peek and partner, Heather Kunz of Decatur, GA; and grandchildren, Mary Katherine (Kate) Peek, Rowan Lewis Kunz-Peek, Michael Richardson and Luke Richardson.

Funeral Services for Mr. Peek will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Cordell and Mr. Bill Kinzy officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Kinzy, Barry Duke, Reggie Dowdy, Mike Camp, Jimmy Persons, and Don Henderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Walt Meadors, Dr. Sam Garner, Jim Lindsey, and Roger Chastain.

MRS. VIRGINIA KELLER BOOLE, age 72, of Ft. Payne, Alabama, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Saturday (March 21, 2009) at her residence. A native of Berea, Ohio She was born to the late Anthony and Ann Shuritz Keller on October 29, 1936. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Surviving are husband-Ralph Boole; daughters-Kerrie Lynn Parks Boowie of Maryville, TN. and Stephanie Keller Parks Dennis of Summerville; son-Frank Lloyd Parks, Jr. of Summerville; brother-Richard Keller of Corry, PA.; grandchildren-Jessica Dennis Green & Joshua Scott Green of Rome, Jon-Stephan Zachary Dennis & Jacqueline Alleigha Dennis both of Summerville, Amy Nicole Priest & Brandon Edward Boowie both of Maryville, TN.; Ten Great Grandchildren; step children-Jeffrey Boole of Exmore, VA. & Richard Scott Boole of Boise, ID.; former son-in-law-John Dennis of Summerville.

Eva Brown Obit

EXA OVELLE BROWN, 87 of 103 Norton Road-Summerville, Georgia died Thursday (March 19, 2009) in Rome at the home of her brother; she had been in declining health for the past year. Miss Brown was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on July 23, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lillie Grigsby Brown. In addition to parents She is preceded in death by four sisters-: Elsie Stephens Dixon, Sara Jo Brown, Dorothy Phillips Tucker, and Mildred Brown; nephew- Ricky Brown and niece- Deborah Brown Gooch.

Surviving are two brothers-Warren H. Brown of Doraville and James L. Brown of Rome; four nieces-Karen Brown McRae (Mrs. Duncan) of Duluth, Kathey Brown Johnson (Mrs. Tony) of Good Hope, Melodye Brown of Rome, and Linda Phillips Tinker (Mrs. Thom) of Trion.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday (March 21st) at 2:00 P.M. at the family plot in the Summerville Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Howell officiating. Visitation prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heyman Hospice Care, P.O. Box 163, Rome, GA 30162-0163.

Mr. James Hobson Gardner, age 79,20of Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday March 17, 2009 at his residence.Mr. Gardner was born December 5, 1929, in Cherokee County Alabama, the son
of the late Samuel and Willie Mae Bagley Gardner.  He was a retired textile worker and a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Minnie Ruth Gardner.Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Wayne and Donna Gardner,Toccoa, GA and Dr. Thomas and LaRay Gardner, Hixon, TN; grandchildren,Julie Mullinax, Suzanne Bladowski, Michelle McClain, and Alice Gardner; and 6 Great-grandchildren.
