A report released Tuesday by the Summerville Police Department reveals new details about a power outage that forced several residents from their homes earlier this month. The incident happened on November 20, 2025, when a large tree fell onto power lines along Hill Street, pulling electric meters and service equipment away from two homes.
On Tuesday evening, Chattooga County Coroner Jeremy McElhaney has released the identities of the two victims killed in a tragic structure fire on October 5, 2025, in the Ridgeway community near Trion. The victims have been confirmed as 32-year-old Natalie Cropper and her 2-year-old daughter, Theory Williams.
State Senator Colton Moore, who represents Chattooga, Walker, Dade, Catoosa, and a portion of Floyd County in the Georgia General Assembly, says he is showing “strong interest” in running for the now-open U.S. House seat in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.

wo people were transported to the hospital following a serious accident Friday afternoon on Penn Bridge Road. Emergency crews from Atrium Health Floyd EMS, the Trion Fire Department, and local law enforcement responded after an SUV left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.
A third person at the scene refused treatment.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the cause of the crash or the conditions of those transported.
