For many families in Chattooga County, holding a steady job often means getting on the road and driving to it.
Summerville officials say a new urgent care facility is now in the works, bringing new medical services—and new jobs—into a long-vacant commercial space in the city.
The Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce has moved its offices to the Hurley Community Development Center in downtown Summerville, a transition leaders say will strengthen the Chamber’s ability to serve members and support continued growth across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia.
Downtown Summerville is set to become one of Georgia’s newest “Rural Zones” on January 1, 2026, a designation aimed at boosting private investment, job creation, and building revitalization in small-town business districts. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced that Summerville is one of several cities selected for the new round of Rural Zones across the state.
A long-idle industrial facility in Lyerly is being transformed with hopes of bringing new jobs and renewed business activity to Chattooga County. A developer from North Carolina has taken over the property and is now working to update the site and position it for a new chapter as a multi-tenant industrial and warehousing location.
