Walker County Tax Office in Rock Spring Closed Through Thursday After Water Damage

The Walker County Tax Commissioner’s Office in Rock Spring will remain closed to the public through Thursday, April 23, following water damage caused by a burst pipe.

County officials say the Rossville office, located at 2012 McFarland Gap Road, will be open with extended hours to help serve residents while the Rock Spring location is closed.

The Rossville office will operate from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and officials say six fully staffed service windows will be available to accommodate the public.

Residents needing tax office services are encouraged to visit the Rossville location until the Rock Spring office reopens.

Summerville City Offices To Close Early Friday

All City of Summerville administrative offices will close early on Friday, April 17, at 11:00 AM so staff can attend an Employee Appreciation Lunch.

City officials say the early closure is intended to recognize the hard work and dedication of city employees.

Normal office hours will resume on Monday, April 20.

Residents needing to make utility payments can still do so through the drop box, online portal, or automated phone system while offices are closed.

Officials also remind the public that in the event of an emergency, they should call 911.

The City of Summerville thanked residents for their understanding and support.

City of Summerville Announces Christmas Holiday Office Closures

The City of Summerville has released its holiday schedule for City offices in observance of Christmas.

City offices will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, and will remain closed all day on:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve)

  • Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 (Christmas Day)

City offices will resume normal business hours Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Officials remind residents that for emergencies during the closure, they should call 911. The City also wished the community a safe and happy holiday season.

Holiday Closures Announced

The City of Summerville offices will close at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, for the Thanksgiving holiday. City offices will reopen on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.

Chattooga County Offices, including Transit Bus transportation, will be closed Wednesday, November 26, 2025, through Friday, November 29, 2025, for Thanksgiving.

The Transfer Station and remote garbage dumpster sites will be closed only on Thanksgiving Day
