Today is Memorial Day, a federal holiday dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives while serving our country.
Chattooga County officials say dump sites and the transfer station will remain open and operate on their regular schedules during the Memorial Day holiday.
Transit services, county departments, and administrative offices will be closed for the holiday and will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday.
For emergencies or work requiring crew dispatch, residents should call 911.
County officials also said they honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation.
The Town of Trion has announced that the Business Office, Maintenance Department, and Gas Department will be closed Friday, April 3, 2026, in observance of the Good Friday Easter holiday.
Officials also say that garbage normally collected on Friday will instead be picked up on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
In addition, the Trion Recreation Center will be closed Friday, April 3, 2026, and Saturday, April 4, 2026.
For emergency calls involving gas service or the Trion Police Department, residents are asked to call 911, and emergency dispatchers will contact the proper personnel.
Residents across Chattooga County are being reminded that Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and several services will pause for the holiday.
Chattooga County officials say the county’s Remote Dump sites and the Transfer Station will be closed for the holiday on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The facilities are scheduled to reopen Friday and Saturday during normal operating hours.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for household waste and disposal needs around the closure.
