Automated Ice Machine Damaged Near Dollar General On Highway 114

The Summerville Police Department is investigating damage to an automated ice machine located near the Dollar General on Lyerly Highway.

According to an incident report, Officer M. Kinnamont was dispatched shortly after 10:30 a.m. on July 27 to the ice machine at 356 Highway 114 after receiving a report of damage.

The operator, Logan Hilton, told police the machine’s monitoring software alerted him to a malfunction around 7 a.m. the previous day. Someone also reportedly called him around 9 a.m. to report the damage.

Police observed damage to the front panel where customers make payments. The machine’s credit card reader was missing, and the power switch on the rear had been turned off.

Hilton told police the automated ice machine had last been checked about two months earlier. He was advised to install security cameras and contact police if he receives any additional information.

The case was documented as criminal trespass damage and forwarded to investigators.

A Summerville man reported losing more than $10,000 after falling victim to an apparent vacation rental scam, according to the Summerville Police Department.

Police say 48-year-old Brian Dover reported on July 27 that he and his wife had been communicating with someone claiming to be the owner of a vacation rental property listed on VRBO.

According to the incident report, Dover said he made an initial payment of $10,000, followed by another $500 transfer for the rental. He then traveled to Panama City Beach, Florida, to stay at the property, where he discovered the transaction was fraudulent.

The incident occurred at Dover’s residence on Back Penn Road in Summerville. The case remains under investigation by the Summerville Police Department.

Authorities remind residents to use caution when booking vacation rentals online. Travelers should verify property listings through legitimate rental platforms, avoid sending money outside of official payment systems, and be wary of deals that seem too good to be true.

Summerville Woman Charged With Disorderly Conduct Following Property Damage Incident

A Summerville woman has been charged with disorderly conduct after police say she damaged property during a disturbance.

According to a citation issued by the Summerville Police Department, Brittany Leigh Money, 36, of 286 Kelly Street, Summerville, was arrested on July 22, 2026, at her residence on Kelly Street.

The citation alleges Money violated the City of Summerville’s disorderly conduct ordinance by acting in a violent and tumultuous manner and kicking a bedroom door, causing damage to the property.

Money was charged with Disorderly Conduct under the City of Summerville ordinance. She is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on September 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.

As with all criminal cases, the charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Report Of Shots Fired Investigated In Summerville

The Summerville Police Department investigated a report of possible gunfire early Sunday morning after a resident reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot outside a home on Raymer Street.

According to the incident report, officers were dispatched to 271 Raymer Street at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, after Chattooga 911 received a call from a resident who said he heard what sounded like a gunshot and believed someone had fired from a vehicle before leaving the area.

Officers located a silver-colored van that initially matched the caller’s description. However, after further investigation, police determined the driver was the complainant’s brother-in-law and was not believed to be involved in the incident.

Police searched the area but found no additional vehicles or suspicious individuals. The complainant later told officers he did not want to meet with them but requested extra patrols in the area during the early morning hours because of an ongoing issue. He was unable to provide any possible suspects.

The incident report indicates the investigation concluded without identifying a suspect, and no additional information was available.

Public Intoxication Citation Issued in Summerville

A Summerville man was cited for public drunkenness Thursday evening following an incident on Fourth Street, according to the Summerville Police Department.

The citation states that Eli Nate Middlebrooks, 26, of Summerville, was issued a citation for public drunk, a violation of Summerville City Ordinance 38-1-10.

According to the officer’s narrative, police responded to a report of a subject yelling in the roadway in the 275 block of Fourth Street. Upon arrival, the officer observed Middlebrooks in the roadway and issued the citation.

The incident occurred on Thursday, July 16.

Middlebrooks is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on September 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex.

A Summerville woman was cited for public intoxication after police responded to reports of suspicious behavior near the intersection of Kirby Street and Bellah Avenue.

According to a citation issued by the Summerville Police Department, officers encountered Adrianna Nicole Jones, 30, of Summerville, at approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 14.

The citation states officers observed Jones in the area of Kirby Street and Bellah Avenue after reports that she had been looking into and through the windows of vehicles. A witness reportedly told police Jones was staggering and “didn’t appear normal.”

According to the officer’s narrative, Jones admitted she had consumed approximately half a bottle of wine. The report further states that officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person and observed that she was unsteady on her feet.

Jones was issued a citation for Public Intoxication under Summerville City Ordinance 38-140. She is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on Sept. 15 at 5:00 p.m.

As with all criminal charges and citations, the allegations contained in the citation are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Summerville man reported that his vehicle was intentionally damaged while it was parked outside his apartment, according to a report from the Summerville Police Department.

Police responded to 50 Saratoga Way, Apartment A20, at approximately 8:19 p.m. on June 29 after Garry Lovingood, 63, requested to file a report about his vehicle being keyed.

According to the incident report, Lovingood told Officer J. Pledger he discovered the damage after returning from out of town and believes it occurred while his 2011 white Nissan Murano was parked in the apartment complex parking lot. He said he did not know who may have been responsible and declined to identify any possible suspects because he was uncertain.

Officer Pledger documented the damage, photographed the vehicle, and noted in the report that the scratch appeared to be fresh. Police also advised Lovingood that officers would conduct extra patrols in the area.

The incident was documented as non-criminal damage to a vehicle, and no suspects have been identified.

A Summerville man is expected to face an animal cruelty charge following an investigation into reports that a dog was being kept without adequate food, water or shelter during hot weather, according to the Summerville Police Department.

Police were dispatched at approximately 7:54 p.m. on July 1 after receiving a complaint about a dog allegedly being neglected. According to the incident report, the complainant identified the dog’s owner as Dakota Marks and reported seeing the dog tied to a tree with a ratchet strap.

When officers arrived, they found a large dog secured by a ratchet strap with one end attached to the animal and the other fastened to a tree. The report states the immediate area contained no shelter from the heat, no accessible food, and the only water container had a crack in the bottom, preventing it from serving as a reliable water source. Officers also noted the area was heavily littered with trash and that the restraint was not long enough for the dog to reach a nearby camper.

The responding officer photographed the scene and requested assistance from Animal Control. Attempts to locate Marks at the location were unsuccessful.

According to the report, a warrant was issued for Dakota Marks on a charge of Cruelty to Animals.

A Summerville man has reported a handgun missing after discovering it was no longer inside his vehicle, according to the Summerville Police Department.

Police say James Parker contacted dispatch on June 28, 2026, to report that his Taurus G3 9mm handgun was missing. Parker told officers he believes someone stole the firearm while his vehicle was parked on Hawkins Drive.

According to the incident report, Parker last saw the handgun at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 27 and discovered it missing around 1:30 a.m. on June 28. The firearm was identified by its serial number in the report.

The incident remains under investigation by the Summerville Police Department, and no suspects have been identified.
