A LaFayette man was arrested while driving drunk on Commerce Street in Summerville around 6:30 on Sunday morning.
A thirty-year-old Cherokee County, Alabama man was arrested in Northwest Georgia and charged with burglary.

A former pastor of a Chattooga County church passed away over the past weekend. Rev. Lee Byrd was a native of Rock Spring, Georgia and spent many years as pastor of Perennial Springs Baptist Church in Chattooga County.
Georgia gas prices increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $4.27 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 14 cents more than a week ago, 51 cents more than last month, and $1.37 more than this time last year.
The North Georgia Cruisers are planning a car show in September of this year. The group that raises money for Christmas gifts for Chattooga County children has been sidelined over the past couple of years due to the pandemic, but they are back and planning a car and truck show.
PUBLIC NOTICE—LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST
For June 21, 2022 Democratic Primary Runoff
A test of the electronic voting system to be used for voting and the tabulation of votes cast for the June 21, 2022 Democratic Primary Runoff is being conducted by the Chattooga County Board of Registrars and the Election Superintendent’s Office. Testing will commence on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 8:00 AM and will continue daily during normal business hours until all units have been tested. This will take place in the back room of the Chattooga County Registrar’s Office located at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville and is open to public viewing.
The test is conducted in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-374(b).
