Get ready to celebrate Independence Day a day early- The City of Summerville is hosting a festive celebration on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, promising an evening filled with family fun, delicious food, and spectacular fireworks. The event, scheduled from 6 PM to 10:30 PM, will feature a variety of activities designed to entertain all ages. Starting at 6 PM, attendees can enjoy a wide array of food vendors offering tasty treats and explore the dedicated ‘Kids Zone,’ featuring inflatables, face painting, and engaging games. One of the highlights of the evening will be the patriotic-themed foot parade for children, commencing at 7:15 PM. Kids are encouraged to dress in their best red, white, and blue and participate in the spirited procession. Adding to the entertainment lineup is a corn hole tournament for those seeking a bit of friendly competition. Music will be featured at 7:30 PM to provide a lively soundtrack for the evening. The grand finale of the celebration will be a fireworks display at 10 PM, marking the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

Summerville Main Street invites the public to celebrate southern foods and traditions as they host “A Taste of The South Festival” on Saturday, June 21 from 10 AM until 3 PM at the Historic Summerville Depot. This free public event is planned to help event goers take a step back in time and share a fondness for good old fashioned southern food, fun and traditions. Southern Food will be a highlight for the day. “Southern Sayings BINGO”, special demonstrations and musical performances will also be included in the day’s activities.
The Chattooga Athletic Booster Club is teeing up its 4th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 21st, at the Trion Golf Course. This fundraising event welcomes everyone to enjoy a day on the green while supporting the CHS Athletic Booster Club. Teams of four can register for $300, and businesses or individuals can become a hole sponsor for $100. The tournament format is a 4-Man Scramble, with morning tee-off scheduled for 8:30 AM and an afternoon start time of 1:30 PM. A cash prize will be awarded to the 1st place team. Participants will also enjoy a provided lunch and have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets at registration for a chance to win a Pellet Grill. There’s Hope For The Hungry will be at South Summerville Baptist Church this Wednesday June 18th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Food must be picked up in person.
Mount Vernon Mills will be hosting a Blood Assurance Blood Drive and Mini Health Fair on Wednesday June 18th from 7am-5pm. Along with the Blood Assurance buses, the Atrium Health Floyd Mobile Mammography Bus will be on site at the Trion facilities as well as other Community Resource Representatives sharing information about available health sources in the county. The public is invited to join Mt Vernon employees for this event. Summerville Main Street is set to present a great Friday Night Live Concert on Friday, June 13, on East Washington Street. This concert will feature the sounds of the fan favorite band, Strictly Skynyrd. The concert will be held on East Washington Street from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Chattooga Family Connection is preparing to host its annual Back-to-School Bash on July 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Chattooga High School Gym. This year’s goal is to equip 400 students from Trion School and Chattooga County School systems with the essential school supplies they need for a successful academic year.
Aspiring young football players between the ages of 5 and 12 are invited to hone their skills at the annual Trion Football Youth Camp, taking place July 16th, 17th, and 18th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Sam R. McCain Stadium. The camp offers a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to receive expert coaching, participate in drills, and learn from Trion Football coaches and players. Participants will develop fundamental football skills in a fun and engaging environment. “The last few years have been incredible, and we can’t wait for this year’s group,” stated a representative from Trion Football. “We’re excited to work with the next generation of Trion Football players and help them develop a love for the game.” The cost to attend the camp is $30 per camper, which includes a Trion Football t-shirt.
