Wednesday, August 13 | 8 am to 3 pm, AdventHealth Medical Group Family & Internal Medicine at Cedartown

Thursday, August 14 | 7 am to 3 pm, AdventHealth Gordon

Wednesday, August 20 | 8 am to 3 pm, AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Adairsville

An AngioScreen is a noninvasive, 10-minute vascular screening designed to assess your risk of heart disease and stroke. This painless assessment delivers immediate results at the time of screening. An AngioScreen includes carotid artery screening ultrasound looking for plaque (the leading cause of stroke), 5 lead EKG of the heart rhythm, ankle brachial indices and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening. If you have any of the following risk factors, you should consider scheduling your appointment today:

  • Age 55 or above
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • History of smoking
  • Family history of stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Family history of heart attack
  • A personal medical history of other cardiovascular issues

Chattooga District-Wide Meet The Teacher July 24, 2025

A district-wide Meet the Teacher event is planned for all schools in the Chattooga County School system coming up on Thursday, July 24th.  The meetings will be held from 4 PM until 6 PM.  This includes Menlo Elementary, Lyerly Elementary, Leroy Massey Elementary, Summerville Middle School and Chattooga High School.  More information is available on the school’s individual websites. The first day back to school for all students in the Chattooga County School system is July 25th.

There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing free food Wednesday July 16th

There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing free food at South Summerville Baptist Church Wednesday July 16th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. No ID is required. Food must be picked up in person.

Get ready to celebrate Independence Day a day early- The City of Summerville is hosting a festive celebration on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, promising an evening filled with family fun, delicious food, and spectacular fireworks. The event, scheduled from 6 PM to 10:30 PM, will feature a variety of activities designed to entertain all ages. Starting at 6 PM, attendees can enjoy a wide array of food vendors offering tasty treats and explore the dedicated ‘Kids Zone,’ featuring inflatables, face painting, and engaging games. One of the highlights of the evening will be the patriotic-themed foot parade for children, commencing at 7:15 PM.
