Safety Day With The Summerville Fire Department Happening Today At Chattooga Library

Children and families will have an opportunity to learn about fire safety and meet local firefighters during a special event happening today at the Chattooga County Library in Summerville.

The Sara Hightower Regional Library System is hosting Safety Day with the Summerville Fire Department today at 11 a.m. at the Chattooga Library, located at 360 Farrar Drive.

The event is designed for children ages 0 to 11 and will feature local firefighters sharing important safety information in a fun and engaging environment. Young attendees will also have the opportunity to tour a fire truck, meet firefighters, and learn about the equipment they use to protect the community.

Organizers say the program is intended to help children become more familiar with fire safety practices while giving them a chance to interact with local first responders.

Makerspace Monday Returning to Chattooga County Library on May 18

Participants can sign up for time to use equipment including Cricut machines, 3-D printers, a large-format printer and a laser engraver. Organizers say materials are available for purchase, or participants may bring their own supplies.

Chattooga Library Invites Readers to Join Adult Book Club in Summerville

The Chattooga Library is inviting local readers to take part in its Adult Book Club, which meets every other week at the library in Summerville.

The group features a variety of reading selections chosen by participants, ranging from historical fiction to psychological thrillers and many genres in between. Organizers say the club is open to adults who enjoy reading and discussing books in a welcoming group setting.

Families in Chattooga County have one more chance to wrap up 2025 with a kid-friendly activity at the Trion Public Library, as the library hosts the last Monday Fun Day of the year on Monday, December 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Monday Fun Days are presented by the Sara Hightower Regional Library System and are designed as a rotating schedule of family-friendly events that give kids and parents something fun to do at the start of each week. The program is held at the Trion Public Library, located at 15 Bulldog Boulevard in Trion.

Organizers encourage families to stop by each Monday for a different activity, with themed weeks that can include crafts, movies, family game days, and special clubs.
