WHAT: Weather permitting, GDOT maintenance crews will close the right northbound lane and shoulder of I-75 near mile post 290 for repairs. The exit 290 offramp will remain open.

Update from Sherrif Schrader: At this time we have found no evidence to corroborate the alleged threat that was shared to social media earlier this morning concerning the Summerville Middle School. However, the school system and the Sheriffs Office are continuing to investigate the matter and at this time the child involved WILL NOT be allowed to attend school tomorrow. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is looking into threats aimed at Summerville Middle School. Sheriff Mark Schrader released the following statement on Monday afternoon: The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an alleged threat involving Summerville Middle School. We have also received reports of various messages being posted to social media relating to this threat and we are working on those reports as well. A local Eagle Scout donated his time to help the Chattooga River Group (CRG) get ready for the Chattooga Riverfest that is coming up next month.

The Chattooga High School 1973 Sub-Region Champion Celebration & Recognition will take place on Friday October 13th during the Chattooga vs Trion game. A reception will be held at 5pm in the high school cafeteria. The team will be recognized prior to the start of the game at approximately 7:20 pm.

It has been over three years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and while the Georgia Department of Public Health continues its weekly report of COVID numbers across the state, the numbers have fallen dramatically. There was however, a COVID-19 fatality reported in Chattooga County according to the numbers released last week. The overall number of vaccinated residents in Chattooga County has risen slightly, from 41% to 42%. Statewide last week, 1,202 new virus cases were confirmed and there were 18 deaths reported. The Georgia Department of Public Health releases county-by-county numbers each Wednesday.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is excited to announce the first live FIN FIT (Financial Fit) event on Wednesday, May 24 at 8:30am-12:30pm located at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta.
