A Heat Advisory remains in effect today across much of North and Central Georgia as another hot and humid afternoon is expected. In Chattooga County, the high will reach around 95 degrees, with the heat index potentially climbing to around 102.

The bigger concern later today will be thunderstorms. Storms are expected to become more numerous across North Georgia this afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches. Some storms could become severe, with damaging wind gusts, quarter-size hail, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall possible. The Storm Prediction Center has much of the area under a Level 2 of 5 Slight Risk for severe weather. Localized flash flooding could also occur where storms repeatedly move across the same areas.
