Early voting resumes Monday, October 26, and continues through Friday, October 30, at the Chattooga County Registrar’s Office in Summerville.
Voting hours during the final week will be 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day, giving residents additional time to vote before Election Day.
There will be no early voting on Sunday, October 25.
Local voters will decide several important issues, including proposed changes to homestead exemptions, renewal of the education sales tax and a bond referendum in the Town of Trion.
Voters who do not cast their ballots during the early voting period will have their final opportunity on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, when polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Families looking for something to do this Sunday afternoon can enjoy a fall hayride at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park near Summerville.
The park is offering hayrides today, October 25, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy the fall scenery and changing leaves at one of Chattooga County’s most popular outdoor destinations.
In addition to the hayrides, visitors can enjoy free candy, fake tattoos and popcorn as part of the seasonal activities.
Free shuttle transportation will be available from the park entrance to the hayride area.
The park’s regular vehicle parking fee is $10, although visitors with an annual Georgia State Parks ParkPass will not need to purchase a daily pass.
Those unable to attend today’s event will have one more opportunity to enjoy the hayrides on Halloween, Saturday, October 31.
The hayrides are weather-dependent and will be canceled in the event of rain.

Georgia motorists will continue receiving relief from state gasoline and diesel taxes through the Thanksgiving holiday after Governor Brian Kemp announced Saturday that he is extending the state’s motor fuel tax suspension through November 30.
The announcement, made October 24, extends the state of emergency declared in response to volatility in global petroleum markets and continued high fuel prices. The suspension had previously been scheduled to expire November 5.
Kemp said he made the decision in consultation with Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns. The extension will keep the state’s motor fuel excise tax suspended during one of the busiest holiday travel periods of the year.
