Salary will be based on experience and qualifications, with additional details outlined in the official job description provided during the application process.

The City of Summerville is now accepting applications for a Recreation Administrative Assistant to support the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. The position focuses on administrative support, customer service, and helping coordinate recreation programs, youth and adult sports leagues, facility rentals, and community events.
According to the job description, the employee will assist with program registrations, scheduling, financial processing, marketing, and front-desk customer service, while also helping organize leagues, tournaments, camps, and special events. The role is primarily office-based but may also involve work at recreation facilities, athletic fields, and community events, including some evening or weekend hours.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and experience in administrative support, customer service, or recreation program administration is preferred. Experience with recreation registration systems, event coordination, or youth sports programs is also considered beneficial.

The Summerville Recreation Center gym will be closed for the next couple of weeks beginning today, Monday, March 9 as work continues to complete the HVAC installation in the gym.
Officials say the temporary closure is necessary to finish the project and apologized for any inconvenience to the public. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly while the work is underway.
The Summerville 10U All-Star basketball team was disqualified from the District 5 Tournament prior to the championship game following a residency eligibility ruling, ending the team’s opportunity to compete for a district title and advance to state.
The City of Summerville is receiving $228,000 in grant funding to support improvements at the Fairway Recreation Center Complex, including the construction of a new mini-pitch soccer field and restroom facility.
Summerville Parks and Recreation is currently seeking dedicated and dependable umpires and scorekeepers for the 2026 season. Officials say these positions are key to keeping games running smoothly and ensuring a positive experience for players, coaches, and families throughout the season.
This is a solid opportunity for anyone looking to make extra money during the week, including adults with flexible schedules, retirees, college students, or anyone interested in being involved with local youth sports. Experience is helpful, but those willing to learn and show up consistently are encouraged to inquire.
