Cedar Springs Baptist Church
Two Chattooga County churches are continuing efforts to fight food insecurity by providing free food to the community through the “There’s Hope for the Hungry” nonprofit program.
South Summerville Baptist Church, located at 440 Highway 48, hosts food distribution on the third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Central Avenue Baptist Church in Trion, located at 14074 Highway 27, offers distribution on the second Thursday of each month, also from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organizers say all food must be picked up in person.
The mission of “There’s Hope for the Hungry” is to increase disciples of Jesus Christ while also working to reduce food insecurity across North Georgia.
Community members in need are encouraged to take advantage of these monthly opportunities.
Berryton Church Hosting BBQ Fundraiser, Cake Auction and Singing Event
West Berryton Faith Temple Holiness Church is inviting the community to a special event on Saturday, May 9, featuring food, fellowship, and worship.
The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a BBQ fundraiser, followed by a cake auction, and an in-house singing at 6:00 p.m.
Church leaders say the event supports their “Faith Beyond the Walls” mission, an outreach effort focused on taking ministry into the community, including neighborhoods, parks, and other areas of need.
Funds raised will go toward purchasing an enclosed trailer to support outreach efforts, including equipment such as grills, Bibles, sound systems, and activities for children.
Organizers encourage the public to attend, bring family and friends, and take part in the event.
Pennville First Baptist Church will host its annual yard sale on Saturday, May 16, with activities beginning at 8 a.m. at the church, located at 77 Moore Street in Summerville.
Organizers say the event will feature a wide variety of items, including household goods and unique finds, with all items available free to the public.
Community members are invited to come out, browse, and enjoy a morning of treasure hunting.
Church officials say the event typically draws a large turnout and offers plenty of opportunities to find useful and unexpected items.
